a customer came in asking for a black blonde roast. i politely informed him that we weren’t brewing blonde at that time in the afternoon (it was like 4:30) he backs up a little from the counter and leans in and says to me “i’m gonna say something. it’s gonna sound tacky. black blondes matter” bro it literally made me so uncomfy i didn’t even know how to react.

Reminds me of the time a regular tried to keep making a joke at me, the only back partner in my store, that he doesn’t know how to order “black” coffee anymore. Kept repeating the joke to me as I was busy on bar. Thank you 50+ year old white man for making me super uncomfy!

i was about to offer him a pour over but he said the thing and i just, my coworker next to me offered him one because i was too dumbfounded
