So I got a call last night that our store was closed until further notice because a person contracted Covid. My manager assured me I had not had contact with that person. I have been working as a mid/closer, so the only partners I haven’t come in contact with are literally the 2 non supervisor openers at my store. Upon talking to our opening supervisor, I am told that she was also told she had no contact with the person! So now things are not adding up! We are not being told who the person is to protect their privacy, which I understand. Now my only concern is who my manager is lying to and what we can do about it! Any advice?

The exact same thing happened at my store where everyone said they were told that they didn’t work with them! It’s such BS

They are literally banking on us not talking outside of work. They don’t realize we are pretty united as a team, at least as far as my store goes. The supervisors in the post immediately put on their detective hats! The person they believe it is, I have definitely worked closely with in the last 2 weeks.

My store did an “abundance of caution” close in early May, because two people felt sick. One girl had period cramps, and I threw up from my normal anxiety stuff.
The store and the dm refused to confirm whether it was Covid, or even who got sick.

Interesting. I guess I’m not really surprised this is their approach lol.

Contact your local health department anonymously. Shit gets very transparent quick when the city/town get involved.

You should both tell your manager that if you're not told whether or not you actually had contact with said person, you'll refuse to work. Get more employees in on it if you can. It's not fair or safe to you, the customers, or your fellow employees to not be told the truth.

Plus, they can't fire you for being safe. If they did, it's not worth working there.
