Clean pay raise please (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LittleHellkat
Forever wishing we got a raise or differential for doing the clean plays. I do it every single week till about 11pm and I don’t mind it but it’s not convenient or easy by any means and we really deserve an extra incentive or something.

You deserve a living wage, and to have the reasonable time and materials necessary to do what is asked of you.

This is not an unreasonable ask.

Agreed

I think Happy Hour and Triple Star days should be holiday pay tbh

100% agree

i also feel this. I run a shift from mid start to the clean play, understaffed and don’t get shit extra. in your corner

heck yeah!! I did clean play for a while and we left the store at 3:45am. I would then go to my day job at 8am. Sometimes I didn’t even sleep to avoid the risk of not waking up on time.
Mental-Cantaloupe-17 1 points 2y ago
Why did you stay that long? We just leave if it gets too late 🤷🏼‍♀️
pineapplegnome 3 points 2y ago
Our clean play pre-pandemic is until 3:45am 😅😂
Mental-Cantaloupe-17 2 points 2y ago
Our clean plays are only scheduled for 2 hours 😦
Mental-Cantaloupe-17 1 points 2y ago
You’re scheduled that long??
pineapplegnome 1 points 2y ago
Yeah I guess because it’s a big store but we do everything during every clean play i.e. scrub tile grouts, disassemble urns, scrub mats, go under the cabinets etc.

I’m sorry but no. Everyone should get a raise, not just people doing clean play once a week.
LittleHellkat [OP] 2 points 2y ago
I’m not saying a complete raise. I agree everyone needs one especially in my state where we only get paid 8.50 starting. I mean a differential for how late we are there after a shift. Kind of what a lot of places do for night shifts.
BeardiesRule112 1 points 2y ago
Where’s my differential for waking up at 3 am 6 days a week? Lol
LittleHellkat [OP] 1 points 2y ago
I totally think 3-5 am should be apart of the differential too. Most work places have pay differentials for non salary jobs when it comes to “night shifts”. Usually they’re from 10pm-3am. And openers and closers/cleanplayers should be given that.

I honestly disagree. It’s super easy and you don’t have to interact with customers (or your coworkers really). I wouldn’t say anything is convenient about this job so if that’s the only problem would it really be worth it for them to incentive it? I can’t imagine they would give an incentive for clean play if they won’t even consider paying us more for nonstop work + being at risk from interacting with customers haha.

Not an attack against you of course just my opinion. Probably will still be downvoted lmao.

I feel like the reason why it should be extra $$$ is because it’s so late at night. Obviously different stores close at different times, but Starbucks isn’t usually considered a late night job
gabbysafari 2 points 2y ago
I feel like clean plays should be something you have to sign up for, like holidays, rather than something you’re just scheduled for without asking

Talk to your manager about maybe having someone else do it! I’m not saying this to knock you down, but this is a tough job all around. A lot of our partners like getting to do clean plays and tasks because it gets them away from the customers and they can just focus on doing 1 thing at a time. Def see if you can collaborate with your SM to make a better schedule for you personally!
