i know this would be confusing no matter what but i wish the stickers printed the modifications in a nicer order lol like in a venti cup should be first, all the milk modifications together, etc
GreenTourmaline1375 points2y ago
I've been saying this for years. Back when I first started, there was a literal call order for the drinks, and it would so much simpler if the mods showed up on the stickers in the way they'd show up on the cup/ boxes bcs then we figure it out a lot sooner!
latent_spring54 points2y ago
literally. this drink would be so much easier to understand as “grande blonde double shot, sub extra coconut & soy, sub 4 pumpkin, add drizzle in a venti cup!”
edit to add the 95 modifications lol
CreepleCorn22 points2y ago
With the way it's done now you have to re-read the *entire* list every step of the way just the check if you've missed something. I mean, it's kinda like that for every customized drink but the format doesn't do much to help.

Like those tests they’d give in school that’s like 60 questions, but the first instruction is to read all the questions before starting to answer. And the last question just says “don’t answer any of the previous questions, write your name on the top and turn in it” while all the other kids are furiously trying to answer the questions since they skipped the first step.

I agree with you that the size and milk modifications should be at the top & the toppings on the bottom. But the No Classic in my opinion should also be listed near the top. But it does say: "Grande Iced Blonde Doubleshot."
If I'm thinking the same way as you, it should be something like this:
**Grande Iced Blonde Doubleshot**
Light Ice Blonde in a Venti Cup
No 2% Milk
Extra Coconut Milk
Extra Soy
No Classic
4 Pumps Pumpkin Sauce
Extra Caramel Drizzle
Extra Whip
Pumpkin Topping
But the question here: Does the order of the drink really matter depending on the type of drink it is? I've had syrups put into my drink before the milk is added. I honestly don't mind that, it's just the way my baristas do that. For example: When I order my Iced Blonde Vanilla latte w/the syrup modifications, I've noticed they always do the syrups first, then the 1 shot of espresso & then milk & then they top it off with the sweet cream cold foam. It's the same kind of drink where I don't understand why the order would matter to begin with. I'm aware every barista is different in how they make drinks along w/most Starbucks locations as well.
Alternative_Blacks1 points2y ago
Agreed. It shouldn’t be a problem to provide us with a bit of order in all the insanity that we deal with.
Mayorfluffy36 points2y ago
I got a stroke from reading that
PrettySax3 [OP]9 points2y ago
Honestly same
bareezduh66613 points2y ago
ew...
ih8yogurt11 points2y ago
Just wait til you tell them the pumpkin sauce has dairy in it
BlanketCloakQueen2 points2y ago
And the caramel drizzle
scubadoobydoo1319 points2y ago
Should’ve just done a blonde pumpkin spice latte half coconut milk half soy lol, then again it would still have all the other mods. But it’s definitely not a double shot anymore lol.
romanianhopscotch8 points2y ago
Lol it’s so ridiculous the way the stickers print like the drink isn’t too complicated but every time I get one like this I’m like “Hol up let me decipher these hieroglyphics...”
PrettySax3 [OP]3 points2y ago
Once I actually made it wasnt so bad but that was basically a mood when I was making it
ftsktln8 points2y ago
There’s a much easier way to make this a drink lol
eat-reddit-tv1 points2y ago
How? This is one of the few espresso drinks that’s shaken.
student_notsurvivor6 points2y ago
I actually don't mind making this drink but as others have pointed, the order in which the customizations come out is a clusterfuck. It slows me down because I'm visually impaired so not only do i have to hold the sticker up closer to read but double check as I'm paranoid I will miss something out.
Speaking of rude customers, some people ask my coworker to verify that the drink is coming out properly and that I'm not screwing up. Like dafuq? Im just double checking if I got your grande three shot blonde cappuccino extra hot and extra wet with cinnamon powder steamed in and topped off correctly but with all the customizations on the sticker rearranged.

I had a severe traumatic brain injury about 5 years ago and my language and memory skills didnt fully recover. It has gotten a lot better but getting stickers like this take me a long time because of paranoia of messing up and getting yelled at. I had to reread it like 6 times to understand what I was making because my reading isnt great anymore and I have bad memory so even 3 customizations can be hard for me to make properly. I know how to, but the customer was being so rude while she waited for this drink that she put in .2 seconds ago and was making me struggle. Can relate in a sense to this.
Dont worry about it man, struggles are real and its coffee, if they dont like it I'll get another barista to remake it for me
creativedesigns72 points2y ago
Your customers need to learn how to have more patience with you and other baristas as well. Honestly, I admit that sometimes I get impatient where other times I don't mind waiting, either. For ex: I'll order in advance before driving there through the app which is usually about a 5 min. drive from where I'm at and the app says my order would take about 9-12 mins as an estimate, but most of the time, it's usually ready by the time I get there.
But there have been other times, my local Starbucks have legit been Slammed with mobile orders, so I'm more patient when I see about 10+ cups on their counter area due to the mobile orders. If a customer makes an order and expects it to be done and made correctly within 2 seconds, like dude you gotta have some patience people. You really think a barista can make a complicated order within 2 seconds? Sometimes they need to study it more (like in your case for example). And no one knows what goes on "behind-the-scenes," in a sense where what I mean by that, what if someone worked at Starbucks who was dyslexic? I do know that a lot of dyslexics train themselves and Their eyes in order to be able to read & sometimes write as well as non-dyslexics.
I personally would never work at Starbucks (despite how much I spend there at times)...because of how small and claustrophobic it can be esp. when working as a team (aka it getting super crowded behind the counter at times where there's like 5+ people)...that I can't do. I admit I am slow when it comes to reading & memorizing things at first, but once I get the hang of it; I pick up on it a lot quicker esp. if/when it's the same order over and over again. I do remember a while back, I used to order a Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate in the winter time a lot...and then I hadn't ordered it in such a long time that a barista forgot what it was and I didn't even know what it was, either...where it turns out it's just a White Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon Dolce Syrup topped with Whipped Cream & cinnamon powder, but that's def. for those who love their drinks sweet. Apart from most baristas knowing my name when I go there...there have been a few newer employees where one told me they never heard of the drink I ordered & said it sounded good and that they'd have to try it one day and I said, it is good. But I'm always local to 1 Starbucks in particular because they always know how to make my drinks the way I like them where it's like perfect for me. For other locations I've tried, it doesn't come out the exact same my main 1 that I go to. There was only 1 location in another city a decent distance that got pretty close to replicating it like my local store. But for my local baristas, I love it when they're light on the espresso. Some places go a little heavier where it's def. stronger in taste.
bdrn164 points2y ago
So she wants to pay for a grande drink when she’s ordering a venti?! That’s all I got from this post.
lilBalzac8 points2y ago
Attention. What she wants is attention.
bdrn163 points2y ago
And I thought I was being extra for asking for coconut milk in my latte
molgriss4 points2y ago
I feel like that was more expensive to do that way than just directly changing the psl
PrettySax3 [OP]1 points2y ago
Probably is tbh
got_couried_away4 points2y ago
lmao you baristas go through it.. I joined this sub to see if I wanted to work at Starbucks and uhm idt I'm a saint like that
PrettySax3 [OP]3 points2y ago
Great company to work for and *most* people are really nice, but you get shit gems like this every once and a while
Arianasagapo4 points2y ago
This drink gave me a headache
puttybutty4 points2y ago
So it's an Iced blonde triple grande in a venti cup soy but like, add coconut milk(?) extra caramel drizzle, extra whip, extra topping, pumpkin spice latte
creativedesigns71 points2y ago
As I just now double-checked the label in the image...what the heck is Pumpkin Topping? I get topping as in like chocolate chips for like their chocolate chip mocha drink (or something like that) or even cinnamon powder for other drinks that might call for it...but pumpkin topping = ?. Another thing is not all Starbucks locations will have what the customer may want or they may not be allowed to blend certain food items into a blender due to that particular food potentially damaging their equipment.
Honestly, there's a secret menu item that looks really good, but it calls for the baristas to blend 1 of their chocolate brownies into the blender, but I'd think most places wouldn't be allowed to do that. And sometimes, if there's a certain topping from a secret menu item I've ordered in the past before, they'd inform me if they didn't carry that particular topping the recipe called for and I'm usually like: "that's fine."
puttybutty1 points2y ago
Pumpkin Topping is Pumpkin Spice powder. Like a blend of nutmeg and other spices that goes on top.
RedVelvet2923 points2y ago
what in the what- did I have a stroke reading that..
bryceofswadia2 points2y ago
I just started at Starbucks and I might just crawl into a ball of sadness if I saw this.
PrettySax3 [OP]2 points2y ago
I was in the middle of bar training when this popped up and I told the barista I could make it because it was just a mess
creativedesigns71 points2y ago
Honestly, to me this looks simple, but it's probably a lot harder than it looks. At least with the layout on the sticker, it's organized rather than a jumbled mess.
But I agree that new employees shouldn't have to make a large, sometimes complicated drink like this one. Honestly, I admit I thought I was bad when ordering off the secret menu and/or ordering a Grande Iced Blonde vanilla latte w/1 shot, 2 pumps vanilla, 4 pumps caramel and 4 pumps cinnamon dolce syrup and sweet cream cold foam on top; but this is still worse than that in my opinion. I don't order off the secret menu nearly as much as I used to though until I tried an Iced Blonde vanilla latte from Courtney Raine (apart from same-name, I love her channel)--her personality is amazing throughout a ton of her videos that she posts on her channel. I have to do 1 shot of espresso b/c if I do 2, it will put me to sleep. I remember ordering a Grande in person for the 1st time after trying a small completely forgetting how the shot/syrup system works for each size...and when I got in my car (way too much coffee taste from the espresso & it legit made me want to fall asleep in my car)...So I have to be super careful with caffeinated drinks b/c I don't know what's going to keep me awake and what's going to put me to sleep.
I admit I'm not the biggest coffee person, either, but 1 day I do want to try Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew just to see how it'll effect me, but I'd have to do that at home where idk if it'll make me crazy hyper or just crash and fall asleep. If it makes me crash & fall asleep, that's a good night-time drink for me. I remember a long time ago, I got something from Peet's where too much coffee taste for me + it started making me fall asleep during the day time where I saved it for later where I drank it shortly before going to bed & oddly enough, whatever I tried that 1 time legit helped me fall asleep that night. Most Starbucks drinks that I try don't usually do that to me. The only Peet's one I can manage that has coffee in it is their Chocolate/Caramel Swirl Javiva blended drink. I want to know the other 1 I tried that one day from there, though.
fvckjvckie1 points2y ago
Almond ANDDD coconut. Ew
Simplyroro1 points2y ago
I got written up for decaffing a customer, I had apologized to the customer for making her drink wrong, I had said im sorry there are so many words on the sticker I got confused.... she started yelling about me needing to learn English so I decaffed her
official_koda_1 points2y ago
