We are a 60+% MOP store. Stop pulling my tickets looking for the one person who is in the store. I don't need 20+ cups sitting in my work space and falling on the floor. You could have worked through at least 25% of those drinks by the time you found the one dumb cafe drink. Or, if you're that desperate, go look it up on the register, make it and get the f\*ck out of my way while I complete these drinks in the order they were received. /rant

OMG!! this!
my SM used to do this sometimes and it was the worst!
is_it_soy28 points2y ago
Then your SM has the audacity to say “woah! Better pick up the pace! There’s a lot of drinks lined up!” 😑

I have customers complain about that...I look them dead in the eye and tell them first come first serve, you want your drink faster mobile order or get here earlier. My shift doesn’t even say shit when I tell someone that lol.

Back before we got the new printers, we used to keep ours on continuous and that shit drove me insane. There were times when the line of stickers would be down to the floor and my manager would just be there giving us the side eye like “why aren’t you going faster?” It is an absolute blessing that the new printers don’t have continuous

Oh yeah the papercuts when you try to get your hand down to the bottom were the worst

My shifts hate when this happens and thankfully put a stop to it if the order isn’t in the next two or three stickers.
Checking it on the register is so much easier imo leaves bar free to do what they need to do and if the order is in fact there on the screen it can be made by the person attending the customer. At least that’s how we run it. When things are crazy I mean everyone just sort of jumps on bar. Lol I’ve seen my shift drop DTO to start baring and when I realized that the line still hadn’t moved and it’d been like two minutes I closed the window and started making drinks too.
If people are gonna make a mess for you they should be willing to help clean it up imo. :/

I used to do this, but when I got to the third sticker I would stop and let them know its still a bit if a wait and help out

There’s a partner at my store that, when they’re on cold bar, will pull tickets and pile up cups on hot bar until they get to a cold bar drink
Momisnotmyname3 points2y ago
I enforce a pretty strict 2 drink standard with my baristas to ensure quality as well as their sanity. They can absolutely pull that 3rd sticker and start looking at it as they are finishing up their first drink and starting on their second. Having partners who know how to flex, and will step in when necessary.
ageese353 points2y ago
Yeah i pretty much stick to the 2 drinks at a time rule mainly just because I hate having a messy/ crowded workspace so if she starts pulling my tickets I’ll end up telling her to stop after the third or fourth ticket. The only time I really break the 2 drink rule is if there’s a cold bar partner and I know the next drink is a cold bar drink in which case I’ll go ahead and pull the next ticket and hand it off or if there’s no cold bar partner and there are a few cold bar drinks followed by a hot bar drink in which case I’ll get the hot bar drink started, make my cold bar drinks, and then hop back onto hot bar to finish the drink

I’ve started lining up the stickers only by pulling a handful and placing them on the machine/hoppers. It gives me a good view of what I need to make while not crowding the bar, totally recommend it to any baristas who find being able to see larger amounts of drinks helpful.

Ahhhhhhh!!! I feel this to my core!!

We pull the tickets and stick them to the edge of our hot bar. It doesn’t take up much space and we can see how many orders there are.
