How did you become a shift? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ehrle100
Hi everyone, I have been working at the bux for a year and a half now and I really want to become a shift. I was just wondering if you guys have any tips to stand out as an employee. Thanks everyone.

Go above and beyond, ask what you can do to help your shift get ahead, fill out a pdp and tell them you’re ready don’t ask if they think you are, you got this

I told my manager I wanted to promote and it became official like 3 weeks later. No interview.

However back when I was a barista, I did tend to go “above and beyond”. I still do now kinda but no one notices except for my manager because it’s mainly off the floor work.

Talk to your SM directly. Always be moving. Go above an beyond when possible. Start thinking about things like how many cold brews need to be made that day. Ask if you can help doing the pull etc. I basically worked non stop to become a shift pulling months of extra shifts and OT. Show you’re dedicated to the promotion.

Atleast at my store you have to show you’re keen and ready for it. Keep asking if a position is open. When you sit down for your pdp show your passion and how eager you are to promote. My manager was waiting for me to say I want it 😂

Just work hard, try to always do better, and talk to your shifts. Even if you don't get promoted at your store there are probably like 10 stores in your area that are looking for a ssv.
