In my district, if a partner tests positive the entire store is closing and I’m pretty sure partners are required to self quarantine and get tested and can’t return until their results come back negative.
Do you pass the COVID coach questionnaire?
Also if someone is offering to cover your shift they should be able to. I don’t think Starbucks is a job where managers can require partners to be “on standby” but honestly I’m not sure. I would call your DM but maybe also partner resources? It doesn’t sound like your store should even be open if several coworkers have been confirmed to have COVID.

PreCOVID my sm wouldn’t let me cover shifts for baristas, as I was a shift supervisor and it would cost the store more to pay me.

Oh wow that’s so bizarre. My SM doesn’t care who is covering as long as someone is there.

Seems to be Starbucks cares about sucking every penny they can out of us. Even if you worked an 8 hour shift and got $4.00/hr above a baristas that’s only $32 more dollars in labor. That’s nothing to corporation like Starbucks.

We had a partner test positive last week, so our store is open with reduced hours / partners at the moment. I learned I was exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid 4 days after I saw them. I took a test yesterday and told my boss I’d rather wait to come in until I get my test. My SM kept saying that it’s not store policy and I am fine.
I pass the questionnaire because in the fine print it says have you been exposed to anyone in the last 14 days (only 48 hours of someone showing symptoms) which doesn’t make sense e since Covid can spread when there are no symptoms.
That’s my issue with this whole ordeal is where do they get that 48 hour window? My boss couldn’t tell me

Just fail the questionnaire and say you came into contact with someone else who tested positive yesterday. They can’t prove it

I left Starbucks as a shift in December, but my roommate and multiple people I know are still working for locations in three different districts. All of them, they are out for two weeks if they come in contact with someone who tests positive. I don’t know if that’s something their sm/dm decided or if it’s corporate policy, though. Either way, I’d talk to your dm. That nasty attitude from your manager is uncalled for. I would consider transferring if possible.

I am moving out of state in January and was waiting to transfer then. I learned I was in contact with someone who had a positive test result(outside of work) 4 days after I saw them. So I am waiting for test results and told my manager this but he said since it wasn’t within 48 hours of them showing symptoms then I’m fine?

I had a known exposure and my SM told me the same thing. I just told her I wasn’t coming in until I got negative test results. It shouldn’t be your responsibility in this situation.
