Customer asked for hot water and I was told I couldn’t do it. Customer is now mad at me. Sorry dude. This cane directly from my manager who is standing BEHIND me

Not unheard of. Particularly, in high-incident locations.

I’ve never heard of this but it actually makes a lot of sense.

I only know this because we have two stores in our district that had to implement a “no hot water” policy.

Yep! That’s def what happened to us before. He doesn’t wanna risk it. We actually don’t have patio furniture because it gets stolen so often.

My old location, my dm said no hot water. But if a customer complained, she would lie and say we just made it up. Then we’d give hot water to someone, and she’d yell at us for not following the “no hot water” rule. Wtf?!
SchemingPancake3 points2y ago
That’s seriously messed up.

Am I dumb? Why can't we give out hot water?

It’s a potential safety hazard. As someone else commented, some areas are high incident areas (usually meaning there are confrontational incidents between partners and customers, often the homeless customers) and so extra safety measures are taken. Like how some stores have locks on their bathrooms.

Dude they should ban Americanos & hot teas then too by that logic lol
