BLM Free Frappuccino stunt (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CCB302TEST
I was wondering if anyone was working in June when there was a fake ad was circulating saying you could get a free frappuccino if you yelled black lives matter in store, just wondering what Starbucks actually said to their employees about this matter. Was an email sent out? Was it just spoken about in house? Did they address it at all with employees?

Starbucks very rarely addresses fake promotional material. Our weekly in-house communications have all current promotions and coupons.

I’m a shift, and my sm sent us a screenshot of the fake promotion as well as our dms instruction on it. Basically our dm said to be sure everyone knows it’s not a legitimate offer and to be sure they know the number for media relations. That way, if anyone complains to us about it or the BLM organization reaches out to us about it, we can say we aren’t the correct person to handle it and pass them along to corporate. If I remember correctly, we had the phone number on a sticky note on each register just in case.

This is usually how we are informed of any PR crap storm that might be coming our way. It’s nice to know we don’t have to deal with the customers yelling at us about something they read on the internet lol

Our DM did the same. Internal memo, screenshot, not real, here’s the number for Starbucks public relations - just in case.
