I’m not a barista but hear me out (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I have been stalking this forum lolol and it’s just so angering to me that there are so many rude entitled customers you guys have to deal with!!! I worked as a waitress for less than a year and I remember the awful customers I’d come in contact with but luckily it was never multiple daily occurrences. Starbucks I’m sure is much more high traffic than my old job so you guys have a lot more customers you’re seeing and I’m sure that increases the odds of a “Karen” coming by.

But yeah I guess just I want to know if there’s anything a customer could do if they noticed a fellow customer being an absolute bitch ass Karen to a barista? I’ve stood in line behind some grouchy old men or some stuck up soccer moms but never said anything but I mean our world is crazy right now I think if someone is choosing to have no sympathy or consideration for the frontline worker making their very unnecessary caramel macchiato or whatever then they deserve to be called out by someone.

I honestly just want to embarrass and humiliate and make a fool out of the next Karen I witness because ugh enough is enough!

What do you guys wish you could say to your rude customers? I seriously am so ready to just crack down on the next arrogant snob I see. (My brother works at a Starbucks so I think this is part of why I’m so emotionally invested lolol)

I’m so sorry you guys have to deal with unpleasant customers!!!

Also random question what is the easiest (for you) way a customer can say their order?
Size, then type of drink, then type of milk, then any extra thing (like caramel drizzle or something)?

Hope if any of you have shifts or are working shifts right now that they go smoothly!

This is so sweet! In the event that someone is really carrying on, you could say something along the lines of “they’re doing their best” or “you don’t have to talk to them like that”- it might not settle down the customer but it would let us know that someone who’s watching is on our side. The real answer is a tip- if you’re behind someone who was giving a partner a really hard time, they’re obviously not going to tip, so throwing a few dollars in the jar with a little “you’re doing a great job” tremendously helps us recover after a bad interaction- especially considering the fact that when we get yelled at, we get scrutinized for how we handled it or why they were yelling in the first place. Also, so cute that you asked about the drink order! You got it perfect! My main thing is just that you say the size first bc it’s the first thing we have to click on in the system. Stay safe out there 😌
