i love the people i work with. they’re all SO sweet and helpful, and we have a great SM, ASM and amazing shift leads. we get stuff done when we should and i feel so lucky to have such an amazing crew to work with, but i started in august and i just moved two weeks ago. my new house is only 30 mins away from work which i honestly don’t mind. it’s just that the car i just bought is horrible in gas and i can’t really afford to put almost $80 worth of gas in my car every week. there’s at least 6 different starbucks near my house, all within a 5-10 minute driving distance (i promise i’m not exaggerating. there’s a licensed one in a grocery store and five more corporate stores—we have a lot of coffee shops, though). i see so many stories on here about people who have amazing stores that transfer to somewhere horrible so i’m actually a little afraid to transfer?? idk, i like where i am but my car uses too much gas and i don’t want to fill up my gas tank 3 times a week. i’m probably not even eligible to transfer yet since it’s been about 2-3 months, but still

If your reason for transferring is related to moving/commute/affording gas they are supposed to let you transfer, doesn’t matter how long you’ve been there/ if they don’t want to let you leave. Just discuss it with your SM and they can get it set up for you. 80$ a week is a lot for gas

You can always go scope out the stores you're thinking about transferring to if you're worried about getting a good one. Assuming the cafe is open, sit for a while and watch the baristas. Do they seem stressed or are they having a good time (relatively speaking)? If the baristas aren't too busy, you may be able to strike up a conversation - if someone asked me for advice on transferring in my district, I'd let them know which stores are good and which have *ahem* reputations. Your results may vary of course, and your choices may be limited by who's accepting transfers, but it might help you get a feel for it.
