So a few weeks ago a girl came through our dt while i was at dtr. I took her payment and was waiting for her order, but when I got her drink i noticed that she had started crying. It really upset me that she was sad, so i asked my partners on the floor what I should do and they suggested a free pumpkin scone. I gave it to her and told her even though i didn’t know what was going on, that I really hoped that her day would get better from there. She seemed grateful and left, but I’ve been thinking about her since. Well, i was on dtw today and she came through again! She said that she really appreciated what i said, and that I had helped to turn her day around. It made me so happy to know that i had positively impacted her that i got a little teary eyed (a little dramatic, ik). But this is why i come back every day, is for opportunities and moments like these to change people’s day. This is what i work for. Most days at this job can be pretty brutal, and a lot of days i even want to quit and just move on. But some of these people really make it worth it

One of my partners from 1.5 years ago wrote on the cup of someone I was ringing up at the window, and moved me aside to pass it off really sweetly at the window. I asked if he knew her and he explained she was close to tears. I've taken up the practice of writing on cups and bags for people who look like they need it, or any time I've finished all my tasks at warming. I hope one of my "It's almost the weekend, hang on!" or "Have a great day, pumpkin!" or ghosts with green aprons gets someone through.

Its fun to write fun/nice things on warming bags and cups. I wish my store was less busy so i had more time to do things like that

I had a similar experience a while ago where there was a pay it forward chain going and usually I don’t even let those happen bc I hate them but this time I let it happen and one girl was clearly upset and she started crying when I told her that her order was already paid for. She insisted on paying for the next car too but it made me happy to be able to make people’s day better.

I love them too!!! I don’t like when the one person who had a super large order paid foe them ends the chain tho :(

I don’t. It confuses me and fucks things up. Now that I’m not a green bean and not on window as much anymore it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to but I still think there’s better ways to do nice things for people.
