*Me Working Drive Thru*
Me: ~takes a customer with attitudes order~
Customer: -pulls up to the window-
Me: “hello! 😁”
her: ~blank stare~
Me: “your total is blah blah blah you can insert your card when your ready thank you!” 😀
Her: looks at her phone while the card is processing
(Im tired of the tude at this point)
Me: “okay you can remove your card” -handed her her drink in a normal fashion and closed the window-
Her: sits at the window on her phone for like 1:30
Me: i open the window....”hey was there anything else you needed?🙂”
Her: “”um no is that it?”
Me: “yea your all set”

Girl you did not say one word to me throughout the entire transition. Im not going to say “thank you” and “have a nice day” to someone who cant even say hello or barely look at me after they got their initial rude stare in.

The kind to get the survey and give a 2 on, “My barista made an effort to get to know me”.

Me: "Have a nice day!"

Them: *Adjusts car seat, texts multiple friends, sips drink nonchalantly for 5 minutes*

Me: *Rapidly losing my will to live as my my drive-thru times climb up into hell*

When that happens I just like to make them uncomfortably awkward and ask them if they can have a good day now

The lack of humanity is unreal.

Also while taking the order if they don’t practice manners you can politely ask them at the end if they said they would like blah blah blah and then say please? with enough emphasis on the please that they realize they didn’t say it but sometimes it’s hard to force people to think but in your case I would just try to put on a fake smile under your mask and force out a really really really forced have a good day
