Shit mine at chick-fil-a was like a $0.10 raise without being a manager but this was back in 2013.

I’ve always said that I’d be happy with even a dollar above minimum because it means I couldn’t just walk across the street to Subway and work far less for the same amount of money.

i’m stoked too, i just feel like maybe for other people, it’s a slap in the face? like yeah, it’s a min wage entry job but a lot of baristas are younger, living on their own, and maybe in school or juggling other things that this $1 raise is still ridiculously low. and while, yeah, they could just not give us the raise, idk how much it could help a lot of us.

granted, i’m a college student still living with my parents, so this raise and being able to pay off my car? yeah i’m stoked. for a lot of others, it’s still barely enough to scrape by. but yes, at the very least they are giving us a raise, which is a start :)

They could also be doing a lot more.

Where do you live?

i just texted my manager. i live in a higher living expense area, and the partners in my district have been screaming for at least the same as the next district over, where their living expenses are much lower and they get paid $3 more than my district, so this raise would let me move out. i don’t want to get my hopes up but i really really want this to be a thing.
