I just got hired today but after reading these posts it seems like everyone hates working for Starbucks. Does anyone like their job? Should I run while I can? I was super excited but now I’m getting a little worried

This was my same feeling too. I’m new as well - just finished my actual training today. I saw many people complain about it. It’s stressful I will admit that, but I know it will get easier as time goes by. Truth is it’s not for everyone, I feel like people do love their job “mostly” and most of the complaints I see is about pay? That was my problem honestly. Give it some time, get through your training, wait it out - let a few months go by and if it’s not for you, look for something different. I plan to give it more time, I’m still new and I want to give it a proper chance, and you should too!

Depends on the store, the store manager, the district manager, the shift supervisors, the day, the customers that day, the partners on the floor that day, the number of partners on the floor that day, the weather, the risk of a hurricane smashing the store wide open, the music or lack thereof, the traffic on the way to the store, the morale of the partners working before your shift, the morale of the partners closing the night before, and more.
It’s too much to list, but if almost everything goes right, it’s alright. If too many things are slightly off and someone on the floor is having a bad day, we all have a bad day. It’s been getting worse at my store with COVID-19, four people having quit in the past month and two scheduled to leave in the coming days, holidays coming up, etc. Your mileage may vary.

Honestly depends so much on the store and the employees.

I think a lot of it depends on your store manager and your shift supervisors. ~~A lot of the more-outrageous stuff I've read about here (SM changing schedules without telling employees!) is stuff that doesn't happen at my store.~~ (update: this very thing actually happened to me for the first time today so I'm updating here in the interest of transparency lol)
Then again, the whole COVID "working retail during a pandemic" thing is extremely stressful. While it's not all Sbux's fault, I do think that they're burning partners out with their determination to keep cafes and seating open despite a deadly pandemic. Money isn't everything. So to some extent yeah, it sucks.

I have plenty of complaints yes but guess what? I’ve been working for them for 8+ years and don’t plan to quit anytime soon. I don’t work jobs I hate and there’s been a few times where I did hate my Starbucks job but that wasn’t really the company’s fault. 99% of the time it was my coworkers/manager. If the store becomes toxic, I leave and find a store that has a healthy work environment. I cannot stress enough how important it is to not have a toxic workplace. I cannot work in toxicity. It’s mentally draining and takes it’s toll.

I love my job, I’ve had some problems with a fellow partner but it’s knowing who you can trust to report these problems to. For me it’s a certain shift who has been with the team for years. My best advice is don’t get overwhelmed, don’t kick yourself for making something wrong, you learn by doing and you learn from mistakes, and if someone is giving you a problem try and remember to not take it personal, but if you have to report it report it to an unbiased person who you trust. Honestly, the job can be hard but the regulars and the great partners and the free coffee makes it more then worth it. My feet are sore and my voice is tired after yelling over the espresso machine and blender but it’s a great job. Stay ambitious and determined and you’ll love it.
