That was the response of the district manager to me not covering a shift at a different store when I’d already worked 7 days in a row and was in urgent care with a kidney infection caused by not being able to take any bathroom or water breaks at work because stepping out of the kiosk is a noncompliance.

I’m taking my paid vacation for my surgery and then I’m gone. I will be citing that response as a reason for my leave.

Anyone else have really garbage responses from coworkers or management for something like that???

Not a response to a situation like that. However, I have experienced:

Being written up for coming in late the day my aunt died.

Being written up for not knowing I worked that day because the SM changed the schedule way after she should have over and over WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE, and the last information I had was that I didnt work that day. This one is less ridiculous because I guess I could have checked again (this was after returning from covid leave) but I maintain that its still ridiculous.

Being given a final write up when the other write ups were for a completely seperate thing. (Time issues vs being "approachable") and not being allowed any kind of conversation before hand to correct the behavior before getting that final write up.

Trying to have a conversation with a problem shift about the very agressive way they were talking to me + unreasonable expectations placed on me, to which they proceeded to send me home and call the manager. They knew that this could definitely get me fired and I maintain the stance that this actual was an attempt to get me fired.

When I called the manager to attempt to tell my side of what happened (to which ... you guessed it - was a completely different story from the shifts perspective) and told "you need to have a conversation with them first before you come to me" like,,, I literally tried to, and they sent me home?? "Well they asked you if you wanted to be there and you said no" "ummmmmmmmm no. In fact, they said they felt like I didnt want to be there and I responded that I really did want to be there, I was just having issues with how they were treating me" .... "im just hearing that you arent really hearing each other"

👀👀👀 I'm looking at other jobs.

This is almost exactly what happened to me at my first store...

Had some attendance issues that were, from my perspective, entirely defensible. Our SM goes on a vacation and the brand new ASM is having some trouble and completely neglecting the night shifts. one night we were already understaffed with a terrible mid trade-off and our shift (who was a brand new hire) just fucking left the store. Walked out. It was my 19 year old ass and our 16 year old new hire closing until 2am. I left a note basically addressing the shitty handoff, saying we were set up to fail. The ASM took this personally and threw a big fit, SM fired me as soon as she got back.

This ish is ridiculous. Im working today. I fought myself to go into work. Im tired. I dont feel good. Honestly, Im depressed as f*ck.

But someone called out today. Its halloween, and I need to stay late. All I want to do is curl up into a ball and cry. But here I go. Best part? I have to work with that problem shift today.

Im honestly probably going to call out tomorrow. I dont know how Im going to continue to work this job day in and day out. I need the benefits, I need this job, but its weighing on me.

I’m a licensed store employee so I don’t think it works like that. I’ve also already spent all my sick pay on the doctors visits basically caused by this job 😅
