Any one else do mid/after shift group screams???? (self.starbucksbaristas)

A few months ago we had a really terrible Sunday shift. Super understaffed, several call outs, out of product, and it was busy from the time we opened til 1:30. We decided we wanted to all just scream. So the second we didn’t have anyone in the cafe, we slammed the drive thru window closed, and went “1, 2, 3” and all of us screamed at the top of our lungs.
It’s now a pretty common thing we do after rough shifts.
It’s super nice and cathartic but why the fuck are we being worked to the point where a handful of baristas have to literally all scream to get out our frustrations???? Why the fuck aren’t we paid more?? Why is corporate running happy hours/red cup day/other such deals during a pandemic?????
I appreciate what corporate does do for us and hopefully the pay raises will actually be substantial. But what the fuck!!!!! We’re all so burnt out and pushed to the breaking point we literally have regular group screams to cope.

Supposedly they’re giving hourly partners a 10% raise come Monday. Comes out to about a dollar for me. Not nearly enough.

When I close sometimes we’ll all huddle in the back where the mop space is and we’ll just scream, it’s so nice

YUP. I work during peak almost every day at a very high-volume store.. so me and a few others will just kinda.. scream at the top of our lungs in the BOH. Very cathartic.

Curious question, what kind of sales do you do at a high volume store? What is the weekly average dollar amount?

Honestly it depends on the day. I work mornings and there have been days where we made $6,000 before 10:30am.

5-6 people. Granted I’ve only worked at this store so I may not know real pain 😳

I usually wait until I’m in my car and then I’ll let out a nice scream and then I’ll follow up with crying on the drive home
