Hi guys! I live in the BC province and recently our cases have skyrocketed like literally the spike went whOop. Pretty sure this huge wave was caused by people relaxing and not caring about rules BUT also halloween night was absolutely INSANE and i think cases will triple from it.
Anyways, seeing the situation now, I'm genuinely scared to go out and work 3 days a week. I don't even have a car so I do take the bus to work which is kind of scary too. What should I do? Is it OK under company policy to ask to work less due to the virus?
Also scared to ask because they might say "it's not that serious" and not care about what I say..

I'm in AB and our cases exploded too. I think we're doing the worst per capita in Canada? I take the bus to and from work and it's a shit-show.
On Saturday someone came through the drive-thru saying he'd just come back from being tested.
Really thinking I shoulda chosen the LOA just about now. Solidarity lmao.

that's horrible... i think its honestly pretty selfish for businesses to still be open idk if anyone thinks this way too. It's just that we're definitely NOT essential workers yet we still go out and talk to customers as well as take transit.. it's just a hazard, but we have to work...

You can ask to work less, but your manager may tell you it’s not possible for you to work less than three days a week and stay with the company.

is there no LOA? possible :(( that's so sad

I believe they opened up requests for unpaid Personal LOAs but they are a maximum of 30 days. But there is no COVID related LOA for you to take.

I’m not sure you can speak to your SM about taking the LOA. I’m not sure your Financial situation.

I'm very financially sound right now! would there be any other problems? Like is it just not possible?

I would def speak to your SM I think you can take the LOA until March(not 100% sure)

I wouldn't mind taking an LOA and not work.. i just don't know if that's possible.. :( I'm OK financially, I have saved up quite a bit and the CERB treated me well so.. but yea.. idk it doesn't feel safe..
