Red cup post trauma stress(self.starbucksbaristas)

267**** here, so Friday was a big yikes. I didn’t receive proper training it was like more of a throw me in the fire but I did it. I worked today and was told we had a lot of complaints of why we were taking so long to get drinks.. One customer came in and was pissed off and I recognised her bc of her unique name and was complaining to me why I didn’t give her cup as if I didn’t want her to get a cup. I made a mistake somehow bc Uber eats, cafe, and mobile orders need to receive a cup for their holiday drinks. We were making drinks per second. But it’s over now but I’m annoyed that people are coming back to our store complaining in why we were taking forever and how they waited for too long and etc. But my partners were doing their best and I appreciate them so much for backing me up whenever I had a nasty customer being rude to me for no reason.

I was on my shift for all of 15 minutes before some rude ass 40 yr old dude in scrubs starts coming at me all rude over his wife’s mobile order. “My app said it would be ready in 7 minutes, I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes and it’s still not ready! It’s just ONE DRINK” YES SIR ITS JUST ONE DRINK BUT THERE ARE 30 OTHER PEOPLE WHO ORDERED IN FRONT OF YOU THAT HAVE THREE DRINKS EACH AND WE ARE MAKING THEM FIRST. Clearly they can see the cafe is packed and the drive thru is full of cars, what do they not get?!

red cup day was my second day on the job. seriously WTF. i’ve barely been trained at this job but luckily for my store i have fast food experience and could hold my own. i hate red cups now.

Thank you I really appreciate it. My boyfriend helped me get out of that red cup trauma with some good wine and food. I’ll be going back to work on Monday with my mental health back to normal

It sucks that people give us shit for things like that, I’m sorry you had to deal with people like them. I get those complaints all the time since I’m pretty much on pos or dtr and I know yesterday was an awful day for every partner in every store. Try not to let it get to you, I know it’s easy say than done but you and your team are doing the best you can and a great job too.

People were on one yesterday. Cafe was behind yesterday because people were ordering 2-3 drinks. This little girl comes up to me on hand off and was like I ordered but I’m in a rush where my drink. I kindly explain to her they are behind and it will come as soon as possible. 5 mins later the mom comes in and yells at me about how her daughter has been waiting soo long where is her drink. I kindly explained the same thing to her and she starts screaming at me(btw I’m over 35 weeks pregnant) I just look at her and tell her she can get a refund if wanted or wait.

Exactly and I was told only holiday drinks but I was corrected several times that it was also pumpkin cream cold brew. I asked my manager and he shrugged as well since the app said fall and holiday drinks will receive a red cup. But I guess Starbucks likes making me look stupid as if I know was told today in who gets what.
