As much as I feel like it’s not a discussion to be had in store I think you can recognize there is a difference between Republican and Trump supporter no matter what. I know Republicans who crossed party lines for this election, blind party loyalty is what created such a divide in the country. The partisan system tends to make people “copy and paste thoughts and feelings” as you told your coworker. They could say the same to you in they were the one in a group of people who agree with you. It’s all a matter of perspective, and while I think that everyone should be open to conversation under normal circumstances, you also need to recognize that Starbucks is a company that attracts left-leaning employees and if you do not align yourself with those beliefs then you may feel out of place

I don’t have an issue with Republicans/conservatives either, but you have to be blind (ESPECIALLY because you’re not straight and a minority???) to think that Trump isn’t a terrible person. Him and his administration have reversed rights for SO MANY PEOPLE, those people being minorities, women, and the LGBTQIA+ community. My fiancée and I have been cornered and harassed by Trump supporters almost every day, just because we’re lesbians and interracial. That speaks volumes; so yeah, if you voted for Trump I’d be wary of you too. There’s nothing wrong with being a bit conservative and having different views on how our economy and such should work, but there is NO ARGUMENT when people’s rights and the moral values of how other people should be treated and get to live their lives are in question.
