They honestly should had not done red cup this year...RANT(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MemesandSpeech
Yesterday: Customers ringing our phone asking for the holiday cups, VERY VERY customized orders (Just to get a red cup), people getting upset cause they can't get a red cup but for so we give it to em anyway (cuz we have 2 EXTRA BOXES), lobby was packed (Customers grabbing straws and mistaking other drinks as their own) And I haven't even caught up (Trained) on the new drinks hence I was aggravated at bar. (Still held it down the best I can but was still aggravated till the end.)
Today: Like 85% of the same thing from yesterday
(I swear I am this close to chug down a TRENTA cup of VANILLA SWEET CREAM)

Is the TRENTA cup of VANILLA SWEET CREAM straight? Also agreed. I thought it was on the 7th and specifically took it off. Last year I was still really new and it was horrible. Like partners are still talking about flashbacks to Red Cup Day 2019
MemesandSpeech [OP]23 points2y ago
yes, straight! and last I remembered I was new and on register. Now, this year, i see why my coworkers were saying good luck.
kcushwaa13 points2y ago
Drink VSC straight > get the diabeetus > not come into work tomorrow > ... > profit
Barist18 points2y ago
Yes. Even on register was bad last year at my store. How is it straight?
Unipanther3686 points2y ago
Drinking the trenta cup of vanilla sweet cream straight. As in nothing else added. Just VSC. Also, you're the one who asked if it was straight 😂

No like how does it taste

I’m still scarred from 2018.

Oh man I feel you on not getting trained on the new drinks! I was “trained” by being shown the recipe cards, but unlike fall drinks for which we had the pumpkin spice sauce & powder/smoked sea salt topping out for a few days in advance, we didn’t put out the holiday ingredients until the night before. When thrown on bar, I had to have my supervisor give me a quick rundown on drinks & their corresponding toppings :/

Had nada here, I took photos on the ipad but ha dent really studied up since im re doing my notes on how to make drinks or etc. AGAIN!

Social distancing was just not a thing.

the holiday season is the worst. it’s so crowded and people seem to be so much less forgiving if you mess up a drink. my coworker accidentally made a bunch of cold brews with the eggnog instead of vsc and yikes...that didn’t go well. i also had a lady try to buy all of our straws and my coworker (who is still in training so she didn’t know any better) started to ring her up so i had to intervene and be like “sorry we can’t do that, we have other customers who want the straws as well”. one last story- i had a lady call three separate times to ask the same question about our cups, only to come in, ask if the were made of cardboard and leave when i told her they’re plastic,,, who wants a cardboard reusable cup lmao i’m glad i was wearing my mask so she couldn’t see me laughing.

I agree. My store didn’t run out until 5pm, however, we reached nearly 10k in a single day (we usually make like 6-7k daily), while understaffed beyond measure, and we closed an hour early. Complete anarchy.
Jeffuk885 points2y ago
Are you in the states? In canada we have to hand drinks to the customer one at a time so they can't just grab random cups
shosh_c7 points2y ago
People still take the wrong drinks even when we call them out. Yesterday we had a cafe order for 3 venti caramel fraps and a mobile order for a grande hot chestnut praline latte that both happened to have the same name. The girl in the cafe took the mobile order and left. Like you ordered 3 Frappuccinos and thought a grande hot drink was yours??
KatySheets6 points2y ago
Our store is the same way. We don’t leave them on the handoff plane within customer reach. (California)
Jeffuk884 points2y ago
Yeah it was part of the covid rules. Pre covid it was a free for all but you didn't have to throw out everything touched

Agree completely. Even my manager was talking about how Starbucks preaches about staying safe in the lobby but it was impossible to social distance. We had over 60 transactions in 30 minutes when my store averages 20-25 per half hour. Absolutely horrible on partners. We should have gotten time and a half or something for that day. I felt horrible because as a shift, I try to keep spirits up and if I see a partner stressing out, I take over for them and send them to something less stressful, but all my partners on red cup day were physically drained by the time their shift ended. We literally just sat on the floor in the back. Oh and red cup day was also my day 4 of 9 days working in a row 🙃🙃

YESSSS, it was completely insane. I'm at a cafe only store that isint huge. We didn't have enough room for the people we were serving. Our highest half hour was an 83 😭😅 and we stayed over 60 for three hours straight. My tiny cafe... so many crazies who don't want to wear a mask. It's hard because you want to help those who are stressed but everyone is stressed, and you can't save everyone 😪 Red Cup Day is cray cray

I don’t understand why these red cups are so important. I got one last year without even asking and it was just a happy surprise. I maybe used it again twice? I just don’t know why people get so up in arms about having a cup they’re going to lose or ruin within a week or so
draahstopter3 points2y ago
A lot of people just get them so they can sell them on eBay 🙄
missvivianfox2 points2y ago
Well that’s just ridiculous. I don’t think I’ve ever even seen someone use their red cup more than once. They get it to snap a picture and that’s about it. Bunch of Karen’s really

My store was packed today because of the holidays, just non stop from when I came in till closing. I only had one other person and my SM scheduled the clean play on top of that. It took nearly two hours just to get regular closing stuff done before we could even start the clean play. It’s like they want to make us suffer on purpose.

That day was the shit show to beat all shit shows
emosweatshirt1 points2y ago
they don’t care about us at all and its so obvious. i live in a hot spot and my tiny ass store was entirely full. i hate this job
ittybittybakerkitty1 points2y ago
They can't even use it because of covid-19

I remember two years ago I transferred and helped open a store as a supervisor and we had to train the WHOLE store and our manager was AWFUL at communication and just being present in general (she eventually got fired two months after I left cause no-one was there to clean up her mistakes)
and i walking in at 10 and was like "How's the morning???" and they were all SHOOK
she also failed to tell them how to actually put the red cup on the order to actually count the fact that we gave it away, so inventory said we still had 225 red cups cause they didn't actually mark them out in the computer with the order. (somehow that was my fault even though I wasn't scheduled for three days before that, so had no way of making sure they knew that, and the manager had said she was going to teach them how and set it up because she wanted it done "right")

I didnt work friday but i heard that at my store we had not opened yet, we havent even unlocked the doors and ppl were lining up for the red cups
