Yesterday (red cup day) was the worst day I’ve worked in my 2 years at Starbucks.(self.starbucksbaristas)

I was anticipating being busy. I came in at 5, we open at 430 and of course had like 4 cars in DT and about 10 people on the lobby. Expected. What I did NOT expect was to be down a bar. Down a bar on red cup day. It was absolutely awful. I started on DT bar so our SM could pull pastries and fix whatever happened to the shelves in the freezer and everyone else could finish setting up. She hears me get an order for 4 drinks on the headset and comes out to make 2 for me to keep it moving along. We had zero mobiles at that point. From that moment on, I didn’t move from DT and she didn’t move from mobile for almost 4 hours. Our mobiles were 40 min behind because everyone one and their mother ordered via mobile and ordered 3+ drinks for the office. And also came in and ordered 2-4 drinks each in the lobby. I glanced in the lobby at one point and saw probably 40 people just staring at us. Some were really nice, most were silently very very annoyed, and a few were very vocally angry at us. I mean, I totally understand that 40 min behind is A LONG TIME. I understand the upset and the frustration, I do. But we were working literally as fast as we could. What sucks, is if we had that 3rd bar open we could have been set so well. We were staffed perfectly for a smooth run and it just....wasn’t. We ended up dumping more then a dozen drinks because people left before they were ready. I did get my sugar plum cheese danish though so that made me happy for my 15....which I got at 9:50 😂😂

Oh yeah... we were 20 minutes behind on mobiles. One woman asked me “can you please try and hurry up?” And I told her “I can literally only see one sticker at a time, and even then, I’m required to make drinks in the order they come in. I apologize.” Another man said “can’t you just pour tea in a cup for me?” And I told him, “sir, I haven’t gotten to your sticker yet and I am planted on cafe bar. I do not make the cold drinks. It will be out as soon as possible.” This is the same man that decided to walk in and order his drink IN THE LOBBY and then was mad that it wasn’t ready immediately?!??? I don’t understand people. Red cup day was exhausting! At least it’s only once a year and the day went by super fast!

Yeah I think Friday was the worst shift I've ever worked as well. We were 40+ minutes behind mobile orders all morning as well 😫 never seen anything like it...cried on my half
