so, i go into my store this morning to get a drink before i go in later today. as we get there, the store is flooded. the drains aren’t working. there is about a half an inch of water behind the bar. and it’s seeping into the cafe.

so, they kick the customers out and shut down. rational right? they call the tech who says he’ll be there. but my shift is at 2. and we get a message at noon that we still have to go in because we “expect to resume business” later??? that doesn’t seem right. our techs never show up on time. and the store is FLOODED for goodness sake. someone tell me i’m not crazy in being angry that we’re still expected to go in in an hour.

Your other option would be to wait around to be called back into work and since Starbucks would legally have to pay you for that anyways, it makes more sense for them to have you in the store ready to go rather than having you sit at home and then waiting for you to make your way to the store.

That’s what we’ve done in the past too. But you get paid to sit there

Oh honey, we had to stand in raw sewage and serve drinks because THE SIREN IS AN EVIL RELENTLESS BITCH.
