Be an actual Store Manager for ONCE! (self.starbucksbaristas)

Our SM just LIVES to go on vacation. He's taken 7 different vacations since I started and it hasn't even been a year since I've worked here.

The last time he took off for Vacation (2 weeks ago) he left his shift early and had just me and a green bean on the floor. Just us two (were the morning crew) and had a night shift manager clock on early. JUST SO HE COULD GO ON VACATION. and mind you we were busy like we always are.

It really pissed me off because it showed just how much he doesnt care about the team and is willing to let us suffer just because he didn't want to be there. Also not to mention it just made the block scheduling obsolete. Why are we split up in two different teams still if you think its not that big a deal? Oh yeah COVID. THATS WHY WE HAVE BLOCK SCHEDULING.

Just because I can kick ass on the floor doesn't mean I want to do everyone else's job. It was just me on bar, prepping for night crew, taking orders upfront AND doing the food. And the green bean constantly needed help at the window because hes new and thats totally understandable. I am not getting paid enough. I work my ass off and night crew who are always on there phone and NEVER prep ANYTHING for morning crew CONSTANTLY get praised. I dont need anyones approval but it would be nice to actually get paid for the job(s) I do.

Also our SM is currently on Vacation-.-

Where my vacation lol?

i 100% agree with you and we are literally so understaffed. your SM might be vacationing a lot because if they don’t use their vacation hours before the end of the year, they lose them. or they just really like travelling lol

The ONE THING I’ll say in the defense of Store Managers is that their vacation expires. My manager, for example, typically takes his vacation in May right before we start getting ready for summer. I know he was continually pressured to not take his vacation because of all the bullshit going. So he waited and waited and waited and then took his vacation at the last minute, which was the same thing three other managers did at roughly the same time, because none of them wanted to lose the vacation that they had earned.

I know it’s first world problems, but Starbucks fucked up by not offering to let managers sell their vacation days back to the company.

I completely understand this, but this man literally takes off when shit hits the fan. Multiple times we'll be dying on the floor and he'll either be in the back doing "conference calls" but in reality he's sitting on his ass scrolling through FB. Or he'll "have" to go help out another store in a town 2 hours away. And when hes at that store he does nothing but talk.

And when he'll be on vacation for weeks and never staffs us correctly before taking off. Honestly I dont mind when hes not there. But take care of your store please.

I love it when I bring up staffing issues to address and even suggest solutions to my SM and am met with ‘bUt I hAvEn’T bEeN aBlE tO tAke MY vAcAtIoN!’ And our DM just hops in her Tesla driving from store to store infecting everyone. Love it!
