The thing about these orders that pisses me off more is the fact that they are usually placed by a group of people in a packed car (no masks) in the middle of a PANDEMIC! It honestly feels like we are encouraging irresponsible behavior and allowing people to act like it’s just another day. My life has been completely upended by COVID and it makes me livid to see people pretending nothing is different.

Middle of peak, I got a 14 food item mobile. Only one thing wasn't warmed up. I had to keep one of our ovens free for drive stuff and work through the mobile slower than I would have liked. Maybe five minutes after the order came in, guess who showed up to pick up the order in drive thru? And then they got annoyed because we didn't have the order ready and was asked to park so that we could just bring it out to them.

I’ve never gotten an order that big or work at Starbucks. But is there an appropriate way a customer would go about this that wouldn’t annoy you guys? Like, I’ve went to Starbucks for a group of friends after a get together on a Saturday night. Do you guys do phone orders in advanced, as to prep the drinks? Sorry for my ignorance

The best way to keep your baristas sane when you have a large group is to order in the cafe and to be patient. If you have a big drive thru order, we don't have a lot of time to make it. If you come in, it gives us a little more leeway on how fast we have to go (throwing drinks together as fast as you can, versus working at a quick pace without being panicked).
We don't do phone orders, and you can order through the app, but I would rather deal with a big group coming in the cafe, especially if they are nice about it. Also just like don't order heavily modified drinks... Tiktok drinks *shudders* But if you come into the cafe when it isn't busy, baristas will be more relaxed and might even make recommendations or just make your drink a little special!

For our store, it would be don’t order that large of an order in the drive thru when it’s busy. Some stores have shift leads that harp on dpa times which stresses the baristas out and then things fall apart.
Patience and smiles go a long way when waiting for a large order.
Also don’t yell at us or get snippy if we ran out of drink trays.

We had someone come in DT and order 18 venti frappuccinos during peak. Kicker was every single one was different so there was no way we could batch them :-)

Wanna know what’s worse? We had 3 huge orders back to back for mobile.
A total of 35+ food items and about 15+ drinks.
I called my shift over and we knocked out all the food thankfully (I was grabbing food and opening wrappers while she was putting them in the oven and taking them out)

We had the same thing a couple days ago and one of them was a mobile that got sent to the wrong store, so we had to ring in her 12 drinks and 12 food items at the window during peak and make it all.
