I know Starbucks has policies on where else you can work while you’re working at Starbucks and I applied to a couple brunch places but now that I think about it - is that allowed? I’m wanting to start moving away from Starbucks but I need to see what the pay would actually be if I’m only working for tips and what the work environment before I altogether quit starbs...

Just avoid direct competitors. So Dunkin or Peet’s or Caribou or another coffee shop.
But a restaurant where coffee drinks are served is fine, if that’s why you’re wary about a brunch place.

I was told you couldn’t work at smaller coffee shops either (and people at my store have been let go bc of it) which is why I’m kind of concerned about this but I think if it’s not directly called a coffee shop it should be fine right?

Right. Just think of it like, are people coming there for the coffee or are people coming there for the food, and they also get coffee.
