3.) make sure everything is stocked up -sugars,milk,juices,cups,straws,
4.) put the beans in the hopper
5.) pastry case and put the ovens on
6.) prep Togo bags if you have time tho
7.) try to not cry during ur shift :)
You’re coworkers should definitely guide you more tho but if you find urself just standing around do those things. Goodluck !!!

Well it really busy and sometimes could be very overwhelming when ur new at it. As long as your ssv is with you and you’re coworkers r cool and help you you’ll be okay:). It just gets really stressful sometimes especially when ur kinda just thrown to the wolves. All I can say is that it takes time to find ur rhythm at work and don’t let others put you down. At the end of the day just remember that it’s just coffee and no one is going to die because ur a little new at ur job :-) good luck my friend

i just did my first opening shift a couple days ago!! the other barista was already parked when i got there so we both just waited in our cars until the shift showed up and we all walked in together. when we got inside the shift unlocked everything and turned the lights/heat on, etc. and the other barista and i clocked in like normal. then i was told to do tea/coffee prep so i brewed all the teas, the iced coffee, and hot coffee as well as filled the ice bin. the other barista did pastry case prep - pastry case and teas/coffee seem to be the two main tasks needed during an open so you’ll likely end up being responsible for one of the two. i was nervous to open but it was actually super easy! you got this :)

morning stuff (in no particular order) - brew coffees - stocking anything that looks low - pastry case - steep teas( pt,gt,bt) - fill bean hopper - make iced coffee - unlock cabinets (i work at a licensed store fml) - turn oven on
TEAS: bag in -> HOT water 1liter -> steep -> cold water to 1.75 -> ice to 2 liters
ICED COFFEE: ice 2 liters -> brew on HALF
BREW: - 3 scoops for Full - 2 scoops for Half
This is what i have in my notes for opening shift!! good luck, i hope this helps!!!
