Can we get an elaborated version of the story?
HollowRibcage 31 points 2y ago
Well this escalated quickly 👀.. honestly .. I don’t think you need answers. I think you very well know what happened here.. the fact of the matter is do you want to be a partner again- maybe at a different store? If so that’s when I’d start applying and if it comes down to it, take it up with prc, however I don’t think it’ll come to that because other managers (if they’re sane and in good standing)- will understand and agree that your situation was crazy and likely assure you they don’t tolerate that in their store

Édit: if you really need to know though. Take it up with district and let them know - you lost your job because of someone else’s actions/choices with having an open romantic relationship when they should be instead- professional.

Whoa whoa whoa!

Starbucks just cares about money unfortunately, any thing that will undermine that and you’ll get axed. At my store we’ve been understaffed during this pandemic and we constantly beg for new people and all we get is “we will try” and never hear anything else

Always!!!

While there are so many people out here wanting work and struggling! Thank you for being a decent person to at least ask for more help.

Passion tango ain’t cutting it for me. I need some more Starbucks tea.

I kind of suspect my manager of grooming someone who works at our store. She started working at 16 & they would always go out to lunch together. He calls her princess & rants about his wife to her. She’s 18 now, but I dunno ... gives me the creeps
Kaylushhh 6 points 2y ago
Ohhhh I know a manager that dated her nighttime shift. She did all sorts of other bad shit but that was 4 years ago. They are still together and she is still a manager. She was married with kids as well. Our old dms didn’t give a shit. All they cared about was money and customer connections. I don’t think that would fly today but it’s just a little too late now.

Tea

Some people need to understand that some things are just not their business. When you start mixing personal things with work, it may not end well.

Tea

This happens far too often smfh... seen it myself. But someone else spoke up. That sm and BARISTA are fired 😂.
turner_jm 2 points 2y ago
That super sucks, I assume you contacted PRC? but also, I think this goes against this subs rules :/
Edit: Also @op, I surely hope you have looked into this. If it is truly the reason you lost your job, there is a lot to be said about wrongful dismissal.
j4c13_b 2 points 2y ago
wait how does it go against the rules
turner_jm 1 points 2y ago
Technically aren’t supposed to post store numbers.
ladyelenawf 1 points 2y ago
~~It does not.~~

I was totally wrong. My bad.
turner_jm 0 points 2y ago
No posting of personal info.
ladyelenawf 1 points 2y ago
I thought I'd share the rules.

>Don't share personal information.

>Posts & Comments

>Personal information is constituted as full names, addresses, store locations, store numbers, partner numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, and direct links to social media.
Exceptions for social media are made for public figures - people with thousands of followers, or are "famous." If they aren't well-known, usernames must be censored
turner_jm 2 points 2y ago
Yea, guess I just interpret the part about social media differently. Still seems like the posting of a store number isn’t allowed.
StormTheParade 1 points 2y ago
Removed - blot out the store number and repost if you'd like but it's pretty explicit in the rules not to reveal personal information like this!

My manager is so cool I wish he’d try something like that with me 😂
romansapprentice -23 points 2y ago
What exactly were you expecting Starbucks to do?? Corporations should absolutely not be getting into the personal business of their employees unless they're a threat to other people.
turner_jm 47 points 2y ago
Starbucks forbids close relationships between partners where one is in a position that supervises or manages the other. Nearly every business has some form of rule about those kinds of relations.
realdognoway 28 points 2y ago
Company policy is that you can’t date someone at a different authority level in the same store
drinkliquidclocks -21 points 2y ago
I kind of get it, but what's really the issue? You got fired for knowing they were friends? Why did you care in the first place?
glittterturtles 14 points 2y ago
Based on the inclusion of “he’s married with an infant” I think it’s safe to assume they weren’t just friends
drinkliquidclocks -22 points 2y ago
But does it really matter? It just seems like a super personal thing that isn't at all relevant to starbucks corporate.

Is it because supervisors aren't supposed to have interpersonal relationships with their employees? I don't know why it matters if he's married with a kid or not though
glittterturtles 14 points 2y ago
It absolutely matters that they’re probably/definitely fucking lmao

And yes, it’s a very common rule in almost every job ever that you can’t have a relationship with someone in a direct position of power over you. Not only is it fucked up that he’s married and doing this, but it leads to favoritism and power abuse, like him making her management because they’re likely canoodling
drinkliquidclocks -23 points 2y ago
As long as it's consensual I don't think it should really matter. Seems odd that OP cares unless it's quid pro quo.
