My store is pretty big. We are in NYC and the air conditioning has never been amazing. It’s gotten as bad as 90+ degrees in the store before (even with no customers allowed in)
This whole week it’s been over 80 degrees in our store. Throughout the summer my manager has been saying that it’s fine and the air conditioning is fine. Meanwhile I have sweat dripping down my face.
It’s work. It’s never been the most comfortable place in the world. But yesterday my manager told me I have to stop saying it’s hot. She keeps going on about how being hot is a “state of mind” and if I start saying how cold it is then I won’t be so hot.
She’s not going to do anything about how hot it is.
I’ve just been gritting my teeth and taking a few seconds to wipe my face off. But lately my eczema has been acting up. It’s the worse it’s ever been. Usually I have a small dry patch here or there. Maybe during the summer time and never anything bigger than maybe half the size of my palm. Now it’s all over my sides and it’s spreading to my back. I don’t really want to go into any more detail but it’s bad.
Is there anything anywhere that says we can’t work when it is this hot? Or anything you guys can think of that would make my manager get the temperature under control? Shit is not pretty.

Honestly, I would call PRC... because that’s not okay for you guys to be working in those conditions. It’s hazardous to your health & is creating an unsafe work environment. If your manager won’t do anything, you could maybe go over her head to your DM??

Idk about you, but I would have fake fainted to get that manager in trouble. I HATE being hot while working. Especially if I have to wear a mask. Definitely call PRC. Your AC should get fixed. You deserve to be comfortable while at work.
