Signed. There were way too many people in our lobby today. There is absolutely no reason there should be a happy hour during a pandemic.
blluewhite22 41 points 2y ago
i can’t believe happy hour is still happing in the US. Canadian SBUX cancelled it a few months ago to review in January
Dsgrcfl 28 points 2y ago
It was also canceled in the US for a while and then they just started doing them again
geedarnit 33 points 2y ago
Woo boy I'm working it and the amount of people who have aggressively caressed my hand while I handed out drinks and crowded together in the lobby is vile

I closed my lobby... didn’t even ask my manager or asm they were off. I just put sign up on the door and put that for there safety and ours go thru the drive thru to maintain social distance.
ladyelenawf 7 points 2y ago
Holy crap, that's brilliant!
Stella_2020 2 points 2y ago
Ya I work at a high volume store daily store goal is at least $13000 a day ... we are busy on a normal day let alone happy hour and my asm only scheduled 5 people for my mid and 5 to take over (closers) ... craziness!! I wasn’t about to be overrun by the stampede I’d much rather have a nice organized drive thru and bar focus on getting the cars out as fast as we can.
wuddupitsjess 1 points 2y ago
My store hits $7500 and we go bonkers... I can't even fathom the chaos of a $13000 day
Alicat-and-Quasar 12 points 2y ago
Don't get me wrong, I signed. I've signed every Starbucks petition I have come across. I have yet to see hours fixed, hazard pay, or proper staffing. They don't care how many signatures there are. They made a shit ton of money today and that's all they see.

I’ve been a partner for about 2 and a half years now. I love so much about this job, and I’m very happy at my store. We’ve endured plenty of very stressful, very busy days. Today’s shift actually pushed me to look into another job I’ve been loosely considering. This whole time, we’ve been promised our safety. Covid cases are at an ALL TIME HIGH in our country right at this very moment. May I ask, why the FUCK are so many cafes open and WHY THE *FUCK* are we doing HAPPY HOUR?? An event that ENCOURAGES people to CROWD our stores? I’m not trying to sound dramatic but, really. I honestly feel betrayed in some way, even down to my SM and DM. I really do love my job. I’m afraid that if things don’t change, I will need to find another place to work. This year, my dad was diagnosed and is suffering with a terminal cancer. Due to various treatments he is a person high at risk for serious illness. I was promised the best safety measures they could offer and they’re still telling thousands of people that they can get buy one get one free drinks from 2 to 7. I’m really disappointed and I hope that wherever I wind up next, they handle themselves more responsibly and show more concern for partner (and customer) safety. I’m genuinely heartbroken but what else do you expect from such a large corporation anyway.

I am in the exact same boat. Four year partner and I love the company but the lack of empathy for partners by the company has pushed me to find a new job. Also I am very sorry to hear about your dad and I'm wishing the best for your family. For other reasons my dad is also high risk and I've had to avoid seeing him due to this job. In the beginning of this pandemic it seemed like the company had our best interest at heart but May rolled around and they threw us in the deep end. As much as I want to stay at this job I really can't justify it any longer even with our pay raise. It's a pathetic attempt to keep partners like us with the company instead of doing what's right and closing all cafes and disabling happy hours.

As long as people keep going to Starbucks, nothing is going to change.

Starbucks would prefer that you pay full price for your drinks - Happy Hour isn’t for you. It’s to draw in casual Starbucks drinkers with the hopes of getting them hooked.

The only way to change Starbucks is to stop giving them your money, and let them know why you’ve stopped. Then you don’t go back until they fix it...or they draw you in with a future Happy Hour and get you hooked.

Signed. I don’t mean to complain but I’m now being exposed to more people than I was when I was getting catastrophe pay. This is a little ridiculous.

I've been saying for months that it is irresponsible and dangerous to my manager. They really don't care that we are putting our lives in the line.
tiara1020 1 points 2y ago
I just signed it cuz this is getting out of hand. It’s like companies forgot about COVID
EggoDeath666 1 points 2y ago
They dont care about us. Why try?
Chef_Spaetzle 1 points 2y ago
It honestly would be fine, if we were actually allowed to limit the number of people in our lobby, and had the staff to actually be able to sanitize the store frequently. But we don't, and we can't.

Edit: signed
