Grande iced rant with extra caramel drizzle and Sweet Cream foam.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by chstarr7
I’m sure you’ve all made this drink. Iced white Mocha with extra Caramel Drizzle and Sweet Cream foam with no whip. Well let me tell you how much I hate this stupid thing. First of all it’s almost $8 for a venti which is hilarious that people will pay that much. Second the Sweet Cream foam. It’s basically flat whip cream but instead of just getting whip cream you have to make me take and extra full minute and pay an extra dollar to make you sweet cream foam that already practically came on the drink. Third it made the foam popular and now people want it on EVERYTHING. I had to make a pumpkin frap with foam and whip ON TOP of the foam cause this lady found out about how SCF is just the BEST THING EVER and has to go on every single frickin’ iced drink. And now that it’s a thing people are going to ask for it until the end of time. We’ve got two foam pitchers ans three blenders and between salted foam, pumpkin foam fraps and this drink coming up every other order foam drinks and fraps take twice as long as the should because people can’t just get whip cream.

*looks at my drive order, grande Chestnut Praline, hot, with cold foam* *sighs loudly*
philosopher_cat_lady21 points2y ago
One of my fellow baristas said we're not allowed to put cold foam on hot drinks. But for those of you who do, the customer's stupid because my manager said the foam just sinks
Sad-Passenger45329 points2y ago
Yeah I always say I don’t recommend that 😂
chstarr7 [OP]9 points2y ago
This lady has started getting a pumpkin frap with pumpkin foam and whip ON TOP of the foam everyday lately.
whycantibeamermaid24 points2y ago
Honestly, the white mochas with foam and drizzle don’t bother me nearly as much as some of the crazy “secret menu” drinks people want. Or almost any frapp. People wanting the foam on everything is a little crazy, but the whole white mocha thing could be significantly worse.
closingshiftbarista28 points2y ago
That pink drink with the matcha in the sweet cream cold foam makes me wanna lose my shit so badly.
A close second is the one with the strawberry puree in the foam.
And then they ALWAYS ASK FOR A STRAW and it drives me insane
Brucius70412 points2y ago
Someone at my store made egg nog in a sweet cream pitcher with a sweet cream lid and with the pitcher tinted brown it looked the exact same, found out later I had made a pink drink with matcha EGG NOG FOAM.
MissCleoDarling2 points2y ago
Oh sweet lord oh no
whycantibeamermaid7 points2y ago
The matcha foam just looks nasty as hell to me. Blech.
And I know what you mean about the straw thing. Lol every time someone with a drink with foam asks for a straw I just stare at them like wtf
philosopher_cat_lady10 points2y ago
What's weird is that people will think I know what the fuck they're talking about. The only one I don't bother to tell people isn't official is the "cotton candy" frappuccino since it's so simple and popular amongst kids. Yesterday a man ordered a "Starburst drink." I thought he'd said, "Starbucks drink." He got annoyed that I was taking a couple seconds to respond to him since I was busy as balls doing drive-thru by myself during Happy Hour and I blurted out, "I don't know what you mean by 'Starbucks drink.'" Then I had to tell him not to read the weird-ass recipe so fast.
whycantibeamermaid12 points2y ago
Tell me about it. Like, I just don’t understand that type of behavior or mentality. I feel if I were in the position of ordering something only to be told it’s not real or a regular menu item I would be overly apologetic. But it’s the sense of entitlement that some people have. They are likely the same people that don’t listen to what you say or ask and are just waiting for their chance to speak. Like when you are busy in drive and say “thank you for choosing Starbucks, I’ll be right with you.” And they just start “yeah, can I get a-“
People are dicks. But I digress.
I also just let the cotton candy Frappuccino thing slide. But what I really hate is when people order some random “secret menu” thing and they give me all the ingredients and when they get their drink they freak out that it doesn’t say whatever stupid drink they ordered. “Ummmmm I got a butterbeer frap, not this.” Da fuq
philosopher_cat_lady4 points2y ago
"Like when you are busy in drive and say 'thank you for choosing Starbucks, I’ll be right with you.' And they just start “yeah, can I get a-“" Can't stand that. They think what I'm saying isn't important and therefore don't listen. Very dehumanizing.
Also, if they followed directions, those recipes usually say: "When ordering, please tell your Starbucks barista this recipe, as they will not know what you're talking about if you tell them the title of this drink."
chstarr7 [OP]9 points2y ago
It’s more about not having enough blenders and pitchers and the constant “and xyz foam on top” than actually making the drink because it ends up taking like 2 minutes.
whycantibeamermaid9 points2y ago
Okay but it’s still better than having to make multiple frapps that are all different with two blenders. SCF takes like no time at all and little to no effort. You just pour sweet cream in the blender. I’m just saying it isn’t as bad as half of the shit people ask us to do or corporate expects us to do.
All I am getting at, is I understand things can be frustrating. Any type of service industry job has those aspects. But it’s a lot easier in the long run if you try to brush small things like that off. But we all have those things that get under our skin. Personally, I would make iced white mochas with sweet cream foam over multi layered frapps any fucking day. Or almost any Frappuccino.
chstarr7 [OP]10 points2y ago
Oh I agree I’d absolutely rather make the cold foam instead of fraps I was just ranting, I get want you’re saying.
perfecktenschlog7 points2y ago
yeah my store has one blender and one foam pitcher so count yourself lucky.
chstarr7 [OP]5 points2y ago
Honestly we need more but have no room for it. The whole behind the bar area is about 3 feet wide and the back of the store is 2 feet in most places because of storage. We’re the busiest store in the district.
philosopher_cat_lady3 points2y ago
We're operating without a pitcher rinser. And also for a long while we operated with one blender before our manager got fired

The drink is disgusting. Once that drink started catching on I asked a woman if she'd seen it on the internet and she said yes. She asked me if I'd tried it and told me how it was \*so good\*. I said no. I thought to myself, 'I don't want to try that shit.' One of my shift supervisors had a woman ask her how to \*make the drink sweeter\*. My shift supervisor said, "Uh..well, I personally think that drink is already pretty sweet." "Oh, ok, I just didn't want it not to be sweet enough."
My point being that Starbucks should have a limit on drink customizations.
Ashesremindme8 points2y ago
I did try it once. I'm not a fan of white mocha, but I love our caramel, and one of my partners made a tall one and split it between us so we could both try it. Holy crap. I felt sick for an hour after drinking half a tall. I cannot imagine drinking a whole ass venti.
philosopher_cat_lady3 points2y ago
I guess some people are used to eating pounds of sugar and fat in one day
meloscav3 points2y ago
I mean, it’s probably America. I’m just lucky the neighborhood I work is full of very health-conscious older Indian immigrants—they usually order shorts and talls and typically don’t like super sweet stuff. It’s just the overflow from the colleges and the other neighborhoods that give us TikTok drinks.

This lady mobile ordered and iced caramel macchiato and the sticker was 4 inches long because if modifications. She came back about 10 minutes after picking it up saying it was made wrong, then asked “ Do I have to tell you the whole thing again” when we said we’d remake it.
converter-bot13 points2y ago
4 inches is 10.16 cm
Chef_Spaetzle8 points2y ago
Good bot
philosopher_cat_lady3 points2y ago
Exactly. Starbucks should have a strict one-inch customization limit
noir_fae11 points2y ago
Have you had customers try to request cold foam with syrup in in yet 😅
Simplyroro10 points2y ago
Peppermint mocha cold foam. I asked what she meant, she said well instead of vanilla sweet cream cold foam make it Peppermint mocha cold foam ... then got mad at me for having to train me ... this 153 old lady doesn't intimidate easily and I let her know that's not really a thing but I will blend it just for you.
Michigoose993 points2y ago
Many customers do not understand that VSCCF is made from something already mixed. Like we can add pumpkin to it but we can't substitute the basic ingredients because they're already in there. Headache.
noir_fae1 points2y ago
Ya.... I refuse It’s Pandora’s box. Also most other modifications are built into the menu- custom foams are not
noir_fae1 points2y ago
NOPE, if it not a foam on the menu and you can’t order it on the app - probs not going to make for you
isglitteracolor9 points2y ago
I still can’t get over the regular who gets this drink made with heavy whipping cream instead of milk. It’s....so....thick
cauliflowergorl2 points2y ago
i’ve had to make a pink drink with heavy whipping cream instead of coconut milk and it honestly made me 🤢🤢🤢
Stella_20208 points2y ago
I work at a very busy store we make batches of pumpkin cold foam and vanilla sweet cream cold foam and pour it into a grande/ venti iced cups and always have it on standby so we don’t individually make each drinks cold foam. I don’t know if my description makes sense or not but basically work smarter not harder. Foam stays foamy and mixed for about 20 minutes and if it flattens out just put the whole cup back into the little blender.
chstarr7 [OP]3 points2y ago
Our SM won’t let us batch foam like that, and neither do the SSV’s. The most we can do is double the recipe in the pitcher.
Stella_20202 points2y ago
Oh I see, I am a ssv and we are a really busy store so we gotta find shortcuts where we can. 🤷🏽♀️
chstarr7 [OP]2 points2y ago
We’re the busiest store in our district, but our SM is super strict about shortcut stuff like batching fraps or prepping foam like that.
BeardiesRule1125 points2y ago
Your SM needs to get a life. Couldn’t be me.
MonstrousGiggling6 points2y ago
3 blenders??? Jealous, we have 2. Busiest store in the district too.
chstarr7 [OP]4 points2y ago
One of our partners who does food like all the time convinced lot SM to get a third oven too.
iWantToBeARealBoy6 points2y ago
People have started asking for it on hot drinks now. Just get whip cream....
Diamondilium5 points2y ago
Preach
deeperdead4 points2y ago
I think the whip is enough because it has heavy cream , both taste kinda the same for me
chstarr7 [OP]3 points2y ago
E X A C T L Y. The sweet cream foam is flat whip that costs a dollar extra.
official_koda_4 points2y ago
Why the hell do people get cold foam on hot drinks. It’s so common recently. It’s so hard for me to not say “that’s weird”
TheYesExpress2 points2y ago
The other day this lady ordered a venti Mango Dragonfruit with Lemonade and VSCCF and I just had to make sure that’s what she really wanted it. It was.
strawberryrum_2 points2y ago
Totally agree I hate making that shit but I low key understand because that foam is so good 🤭🤭
Sorrythatsmybadd2 points2y ago
At least you have more than 2 blenders lol
mewwissa1 points2y ago
Gawd the amount of heavy cream and sugar these people drink is 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Avuneon1 points2y ago
I had someone ask for SC cold foam at the bottom and top of a drink....
RoaringDragonite1 points2y ago
I feel this. Today I made an blonde almond milk honey flat white WITH VSC. What.... what?!
