Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

My manager just approached me (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by theblondebarista
Asking if I’d like to move up to a SS since two of ours are leaving within a week of each other. She said whether I’m ready or not, I’ll have to take the position and then kind of laughed about it. I could really use the extra pay, but is it really worth it?

No. Barely a raise and the work of a assistant manager

We also have 3 other partners who aren’t SS’s leaving, so I know damn well I’m gonna probably be called in a lot, even tho my availability isn’t 24/7. I hate that Starbucks wants us to sacrifice our lives for the company

For a company that would replace you before your two week notice is up and not think twice about it.

She talked to me IN FRONT OF THE SS THAT IS LEAVING

My point exactly

That’s basically every job out there. Not just Starbucks

Depends on your fellow baristas. For me? Being an SSV is easier than being a barista. I actually get to control the floor and put myself into the positions I’m the most help in. Also, it’s nice not having a manager breathing down your neck all the time, at least for me as a closing shift. I get to keep the vibes happy, and get paid more. Though my last day is coming up in two weeks, Starbucks in general ended up not being worth it in the long run.
