A lil reg trick you might not know(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by chaxsthexries
Bc a lot of baristas i work with give me such pleasantly surprised looks when i show/tell them, figured id share. If you wanna add whip back onto a drink, i.e. a nondairy or nonfat drink that usually has whip, hit no whip then hit whip again and it'll say "add whip". Then there's no confusion for the bar people 👌🏾

Already knew this, but thanks for spreading the gospel. You’re doing the Lords work.

Yooo thank you sm !! I kept putting "whipyes" haha
coffeeismymetaphor8 points2y ago
we would put “wc ok” lol
proletarithot19 points2y ago
Now they need to add a “yes there’s cold foam on this drink even though it’s hot” button
Thus far I’ve typed an ask me with “yes hot yes cf”

I dunno. I've always been of the opinion that only modifiers should go on the stickers. Bar person should assume everything is standard unless stated otherwise. So if a drink comes with whip, it is assumed that the drink comes with whip unless "no whip" is on the sticker. Don't really no why I feel that way. Just do.

I actually feel the same way in theory, but in practice, being explicit is just easier and faster for everyone

Good point!

This is true! I make things to standard unless sticker says no!

In the same boat, whenever I get a sticker that says “add whip” on a drink that gets WC, I stop what I’m doing to double check to make sure they didn’t mean no WC.

I agree in theory, but in reality I have so many green beans who don’t think to ask questions and my store tends to have a lot of Karen’s who think we can mind read. It’s easier if the reminder gets printed on the sticker so I don’t have to stop what I’m doing for every drink to ask if there’s supposed to be whip or not.

The turnover at my store right now really makes following standard difficult. So many teas that were meant to be unsweetened but the customer was never asked.
I’d rather the sticker be “against standard” than having to remake a bunch of drinks and back the whole line up

The real trick then is to teach the green beans that the register will automatically show them what’s in the drink on the side tabs, with everything in gray being standard and what is green is what pops up on the sticker. We get a ton of modifiers in our store, so the less that’s on the label, the easier to read in our fast paced environment.

This is the way

I agree! I always get my drink with almond milk, but I still want whip, and whether or not I ring it in normally or “add whip,” the bar partner never makes it with whip :(
sparkytheboomman13 points2y ago
Another lil trick I learned recently for DT! You can “ask me” type someone’s name and then press DT mobile order and their name will come up for the person on DTR so they know which mobile order to hand out
ladycali879 points2y ago
I do this so my baristas don't have to interrupt their flow by stopping and waiting to see if the drink has whip or not. Plus I get almond milk drinks and I like a little whip, I just can't have a whole drink made with dairy
idkcassie5 points2y ago
this is such a useful thing because even tenured partners sometimes forget to ask if someone wants whip on a non dairy drink (and we know customers forget to mention that a lot) but my SM told us we can’t do it bc it’s not to standard :(((
aimsthename882 points2y ago
What did your SM say wasn’t standard? Just asking if people want whip or not?
idkcassie2 points2y ago
SM said it isn’t standard to do the “add whip” on non dairy drinks, as partners taking the order are suppose to ask that and bar partners are suppose to make what the sticker says basically

My foolish ass has been typing YES WHIP for two years

🙌thank you🙌
