Starbucks DOESN'T care about your life (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by organizesbux
Pretty obvious, right?

A good way to make them care is to ORGANIZE! Check out some resources for organizing. Some resources are

\- UE steps to organizing a union ($1)

\- Secrets of a Successful Organizer ($1)

\- IWW organizer trainings (reach out to your local IWW)

\- Starbucks Solidarity Movement newsletter - Dec issue will start a series specifically on organizing at Starbucks! ($1)

Some good tactics to use are "sick outs", work slowdowns, delegations/marches on the boss, walk outs, sit ins, strikes, and beyond. Petitions and news stories are ok but aren't too effective on their own. Any other creative actions are great too. Right now due to COVID it's really hard to have any big or in store actions.

Any Starbucks worker we lose due to unsafe working conditions is a death caused by Starbucks. They have blood on their hands.

Don't be afraid! Don't run away! Get Organized - Fight back!

If you even say the U word you’ll get fired ASAP. We signed a waiver saying we would not unionize when we got hired, and any attempts at unionization can/will lead to termination

Is there a waiver that says that?? Are you in the US?

That's called a yellow dog contract and it's illegal under the Norris-LaGuardia Act of 1932. Please if you have a copy of that post it in this reddit and go to the media and file a Unfair Labor Practice with the NLRB.

Also honestly, fuck that. I don't care if I sign a waiver or not, we've gotta fight for what we need. Who cares about starbucks, they don't care about us

Just let people fight it if they get fired well that’s on them as many people who are unemployed looking for jobs and are willing to take on a minimum wage job as no one is hiring within their field.

Just a FYI I have friends who are RN and got laid off they risk a lot more than ever one else in the food service industry and are treated far worse than a simple Karen who don’t want to wear a mask and demand a remake.

Also improving conditions of healthcare workers and food service workers isn't mutually exclusive. I have friends who tell me all the shit they deal with. But that doesn't mean they won't support food service workers who deal with shit conditions. If it's just remaking drinks then you are in the luckiest store ever. So many stores have active cases now its not even funny.

If they get fired why is it on workers? Starbucks management make the decision to fire people, and they can whenever they want for whatever reason. I've seen people fired for the dumbest reasons, like washing dishes too loud or being late 3 times in a year.

What exactly is the point you're trying to make? The working class, which includes RNs, should be ok with scraps forever? We should just bend over and take it.....forever?
