did I do the wrong thing, corona edition: (self.starbucksbaristas)

a lady came in after going through the drive thru asking for extra stuff... okay cool I gotchu you weren’t happy no problemo I can fix that... but then she reaches over our glass barrier and grabs a straw out of the box... I didn’t say anything to her, probably waited 30 seconds to process what happened, and then quietly went and dumped the straw box in the trash... she saw me do this and was so upset, called me out and said I was being rude and what was my reasoning. I just calmly said “corona, ma’am. You aren’t supposed to grab. you could’ve asked” and she said she shouldn’t have to, etc...

Thoughts? I feel guilty but... safety first, yeah?

No need to feel guilty. You were completely in the right, and honestly, you did the best thing explaining calmly. Sounds like this woman would have been upset no matter how you approached it, so the fault goes to her for reaching over in the first place. It’s been MONTHS, she has no excuse.

We have been in the age of covid since spring, there are masks, barriers, and restrictions everywhere. It's her fault for not thinking.

I would have held up the trash can in front of the window and made direct eye contact while I poured them out.

So no, don’t feel guilty.

I got my store a horrible yelp review and I feel no guilt. I told you no rest rooms, you moved a barrier and still went in so here's your refund GET OUT OF MY STORE.

Good on you holy shit. Yeah if a customer touches shit without asking, dump it right in front of her. There’s a barrier for a reason
