Unfortunately that’s just the name of the game. I was trained during peak hours at a very busy drive through store and from day one they threw me into the deep end. I was running warming on my 2nd day (and freaking out eternally. I didn’t even know the different sandwiches)
At the end of the day, partners are part of the team, and sometimes that means doing the undesirable jobs or taking a role like CS more often than bar because a learning moment will slow the bar down. It sucked because I wasn’t confident on bar until 5 weeks in, but it was what’s best for the team and the store’s efficiency
I would tell this green bean to mention to the shifts that they would like every opportunity to practice making drinks, even if it’s watching the barista on bar during lulls in peak, having them make drinks in the early hours of the shift before peak. They really just have to be proactive, because unfortunately (at my store, atleast) there are partners who never make it to bar. Hopefully that helps 🤷🏻♀️
