Personal LOA - How hard ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Jrip7
Hi ! So I work in a starbucks at Montreal and I'm planning to go to France for the holidays to see my familly for two weeks. Trouble is that I will have to quarentine myself for two weeks upon coming back, making it a 29 day leave.
My manager is cool with it but she told me that I have to request a personal LOA. Have any of you went through the personal LOA procedure without medical/mental health attestations ?
Anyone has any idea of what my chances are (in terms of getting the request accepted) ?
I really want to see my family...

You’re actually totally fine not having mental health or medical reasons, that’s not really what the Personal LOA is for. It’s just a formal process to protect your job, and if your manager isn’t fighting you on it, then my understanding is it’s very easy to get onto one.

I haven’t personally gone on one but it was something I was briefly looking into last year.
