IMO, moving up is all about being in the right place at the right time. Starbucks ran off one of the best baristas I’ve ever seen by dicking him around when it came to promoting him to a shift and then getting him to assess for a store manager. There’s no standard timeline of how long it could take for you to be promoted. It could happen a month after you get there, or it might happen a year after, or it might not happen at all.
How long you’re willing to wait is a decision you’ll need to make for yourself.

It 100% depends on if the store or even your district needs shifts. If your super interested in becoming a shift you should let your manager know and be willing to transfer stores if needed. My store currently only has 4 ssv and if we add another our hours will drop significantly. So I would tell your manger your serious about developing with the company and would be willing to transfer if that’s what it takes to become a shift. That being said if you are a brand new bean with no supervisor experience it’s probably going to have to wait until at least after the holidays. Being from a licensed store gives you a head start though. Notify your intent though it won’t happen on its own unless a shift quits and they need to fill a gap.
