205**** Store Manager, Rolling Out (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hikintexan
I get to apply for unemployment this week at some point and hope it goes thru. My store was not safe, not because of Covid even though that was a constant worry too. My store wasn't safe because people would hide in our trash. We got a enclosure lock. But they still got in. My store was not safe because I had to kick panhandlers out of my Drive Thru lane way too often and get cussed out for it. My store isn't safe because until we completely closed out restrooms people were doing drugs in there. My store wasn't safe because I got lunged at by a homeless man and got a full shrug from my DM. They don't care about my or my partners safety, just make money and don't get covid.

Good for you for getting out and good luck with that.

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you planning on going about applying? Just do it and hope that they’ll give you the opportunity to explain the situation?

As I understand there's an "unsafe work environment" unemployment that I can get with some help. I've saved all our incident reports to send off if they need proof or my DM wants to fight it.

Good job! This 153 old lady has finally figured out that im never going to be a store manager because my team means more to me than corporate mandates.

It's sad to me that it seems like older partner numbers make it harder to get assessed... Don't understand why.

I was thrown into a store before I was ready and without knowing how unsafe it was.

I literally searched for this sub tonight because this is my store in a nutshell. On top of covid, it’s a lot!

people were hiding in the trash cans??
hikintexan [OP] 1 points 2y ago
I probably didn't type right. They were hiding inside the trash bin.
cilantroprince 1 points 2y ago
that’s equally strange... any purpose or were they just messing around?
hikintexan [OP] 1 points 2y ago
They tear up our trash bags looking for food.

that’s equally sad and unsettling... i’m sorry you had to go through the work environment you did :( best of luck on your next journey!

Good for you! It’d be cool if you get to share you’re story with local news. Where I live, the local news will air your story to shed light on it to make the big money eating CEOs do something about it

It's a really big city. I don't know how much the news would care about us. The underpasses where the homeless hang out surround our store so it's not really surprising how unsafe it is. We are the only business sandwiched by the bridges.
