So im 2 months into working at starbucks (I was very nervous in the beginning) but thanks to the kindness of my coworkers, I am very comfortable and confident working in all positions.
Just wanted to post giving a shout out to all of the baristas and shifts who look out for the newbies and who try to give them as much of the training that they'll never end up properly getting. (The most training on bar I got was when one of my shifts was like "okay you're on bar, ask me how to make what you don't know. Oh look its peak" but honestly it was probably the best experience for me since Im always on bar and get asked to swap from other positions to bar when it gets busy. Also being thrown to the sharks and then realizing you can swim alright was a big boost to my confidence going forward.
Side note story time from today. A customer was trying to get a free drink out of me during peak when I was cranking out drinks during a mobile/cafe rush (they are notorious among all our staff for doing this a lot). Biggest tells were asking me to remake the drink when I didnt make it in the first place and not allowing me to see the sticker on their drink. Long story short, they didnt get the free drink (tried to have me make them a grande drink when they purchased a tall in a venti.)
Special shout out to the customer whose drink I made immediately after who said "Hey man, I hope the rest of your day is great. Thank you for my drink" after he witnessed me helping the other customer.
Honestly the customers who have asked me my name because they wanted to personally say thank you, the customers who ask me what my schedule is like so they can come in when Im working, and especially the customers who give words of encouragement when Im flying through drinks during BOGO
You're the best and make working in a constant state of being understaffed and overworked manageable. Thanks to the customers and my fellow baristas who make me enjoy my time working.
:)
