Starbucks in Target (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by matchababyy
Has anyone here worked at the SB inside a target? Considering on doing part-time there for a little bit along with keeping my store since they get paid a lil more.. but I also heard it sucks LOL
Any takes on it?

I super love it. There’s no free drinks, but the target discount is nice. 10% off everything and 20% off certain wellness brands, including a certain clothing brand.

Fluctuating hours is an issue at Target but I’ve been averaging 25-30/week.

The opener spends a few hours alone. The closer spends a few hours alone. But it’s manageable because the volume is lower than a standalone Starbucks.

A lot of the routines and some standards are waaaay different than a corporate store. There's also almost never enough coverage, so you'll be workin alone most of the time. The higher pay is nice though and some stores allow you to take tips as well

i’ve worked at both. both busy, especially if the target is near a school (lots of after school target trips with kids who want frappuccino’s) - pay is much better, starting at $15 and when i worked there starbucks got paid an extra dollar than regular target employees. discount + red card (what you need if you wanna use ur discount, or cash) = 15% total discount on ANYTHING in target. it’s the best.

we also got free drinks on our shift so i have no idea what other comments are talking about, genuinely.

if the team lead isn’t there we could literally do whatever we wanted. target doesn’t care about you. don’t expect them to help when shit is bad. this is why i ultimately quit but i was in a Super Target so things were extra bad. it was good when things were going good because we could have fun, clean, and listen to music on our phones.

my target did not allow tips because it’s “unfair” to the other target workers who got paid less.

benefits from target are good. good health insurance, they just gave all their employees a $200 bonus for covid, and they were getting an extra $2 an hour back in the spring time for hazard pay.

it’s always worth a try, if you hate it - quit!

edit for clarity

other comments make pretty good points, but if this is a wage you depend on financially, just be careful because your hours will fluctuate like crazy. target give out these silly ‘bonuses’ but will also slash your hours in half as soon as they give it.

I mean you’re working for target, which could be worse but you won’t need to be trained

shittier customers and management but the best coworkers you’ll ever have. much more down to earth and realize that they’re the ceo of coffee
