I'm not saying I'm proud of it, but drains were reserved for those on my shit list. TBF, I did them myself half the time, because I didn't care and I'm not above doing tasks I ask others to do.

I have high standards for our drains. If I ask you to do them, it’s because I trust you. If you do them without me asking, I love you.

My coworker and boss like to compete to see who can make them cleaner and shinier. Meanwhile I vomit just by looking at them.

I used to pretend to my manager and supervisors that drains were my favorite as a joke. And then they started to put me on drains all the time and I fell in love with it. It reminds me of whitening teeth.

i have pots and the first time i cleaned the drains i literally almost fainted a good 3 times lmao

I just assign one drain to everyone on shift. If there are more people than drains they get assigned to the leaders in the store - people who want to be shifts, shifts not holding keys, trainers etc. but no one has to do all of them, we share the work.

It ain’t that bad, just put some gloves on.
Unless you have a soft brain store that rinses shakers with pieces still in it, then GL champ.

I always did drains as a shift. Sprayed them down when I opened and then fully cleaned them before I left in the afternoon. Tbh I wish I could do more stuff like that throughout the day, I love cleaning and prepping to set everyone up for success. I really feel like Starbs should adjust their floor format a bit to have a dedicated dish person, which would open up more access for prep, and getting ahead on that would obviously lead to more opportunities for cleaning and such. Seems like it's always a rush to do dishes, since it's kind of a flex task of the support role.

That could just be me though, cause when I started I worked on jobs where everyone did everything and I had to unlearn that and stick to roles and such, and I felt limited sometimes, despite having way more coworkers to cooperate with than those other jobs.

I (a shift) will usually just do them myself because I feel like an asshole every time I ask..

I started working like 2 months ago and I’m so glad I haven’t had to do that yet, one of my coworkers was gagging while doing it and I felt so bad for her

I like doing all forms of cleaning, and everytime a shift remembers I see their relief

What’s the best method to clean them???? I’ve never done the drains??? Please detail each step I have to be prepared!!!!

Edit: I’ve seen other partners use restroom cleaners and the yellow scrub thing for non food contact. I don’t know if that’s correct??

I enjoy doin them and most other deep cleaning tasks mostly cause it’s it’s a moment away from annoying customers
