Stuttering (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dudewhoeatstacos
I’ve always dealt with stuttering as a child and to now being a college student. Right now, it’s not too bad, I just say a couple words at the same time again like “ hi, welcome to Starbucks, can-can I get you any breakfast today?” I feel like my minor stuttering frustrates my team because sometimes they’ll have to intervene when I stutter the order or have them repeat their order. Are there other partners like this? Do you have any tips? I’m like a month in and I don’t want to let my fellow partners down with my stuttering.

Your partners need to back off and let you speak imo

True, but in some cases they help me out with completing the order as well

I’d say try to bring it up in an honest conversation with some of your coworkers, just tell them how you feel. If they know it’s something you consciously struggle with and are open about they’ll be 10x more sympathetic and supportive.

Whenever I come into work feeling anxious or on edge I usually just tell my coworkers and they understand and don’t hassle me about it. Same thing goes for anything else that’s bothering you; best to be open and create a positive, communicative workspace :)
