My store manager sat with all of us individually to let us know our new pay rates.
There was no shift differential. All the 3 plus yr partners got 11 percent. PERIOD... what about all of you guys?
Kazak45153 points2y ago
My manager didn’t even have a conversation with us individually. She just whispered our new rates to us while we were working. I was busy when she told me mine, and it wasn’t even a 50 cent difference. I thought “that can’t be possible” since they’re supposed to be at least 10% (which would be over a $1 raise for me) so I’m hoping she was just reading the wrong persons new rate to me instead of my own, but I didn’t have time in the moment to ask her about it.
Simplyroro [OP]17 points2y ago
Thats weird 😕
Kazak45117 points2y ago
The starting rate in my area is $10 and she said I’d be going up to $11, but I already make more than $10 because of previous years raises. So I’m thinking she was reading the rate of someone who started after me and was still only making $10 as their new rate would be $11. Idk. I should probably ask her about it again but I’m pretty sure that’s what happened.
NOTcreative-13 points2y ago
The other possibility is that the new pay calculator is off. It’s pretty known that the algorithms in the calculator are off especially when considering tenured partners that have received raises in the past, they did call it an estimator after all and it was discussed in the company wide call. We won’t be 100% sure of all raises until the 14th.
DINNERman_Official9 points2y ago
So I had seen a post mention the 10% increase, so I was expecting that too. But my manager actually gave me a sheet explaining it all. I dont have it with me, but I remember seeing something like 5% increase on starting wage, so I figured that, if your pay hasn't changed since you started, then you're only getting a 5% increase
Kazak4515 points2y ago
But my pay has changed, I’ve worked at Starbucks for just under 3 years
hailvy9 points2y ago
They give 11% to tenured partners (3+ years) and 10% to everyone else from what my manager told me during our sit down
Edit: The minimum starting pay varies by state and their minimum wage requirements. Some states have increases in 2021 and Starbucks had to account for that
Kazak4516 points2y ago
I know that, I’m saying a 10% raise for me should be over $1, but my manager told me my new rate and the raise would amount to less than 50 cents, which is why I think she just read the new rate of someone who started after me and hadn’t received the previous years raises.
-zombie-squirrel1 points2y ago
The printout we had on the back wall with the announcement said 10% for hires from before sept 14, so that’s what I think I’m getting? We haven’t had a talk about the new rates yet individually in my store yet but I was hired on in July
PumpkinNoSpice2 points2y ago
I’m sorry that happened to you😓. But that is completely wrong. And your SM MUST have individual conversations with you all. They literally had 3 training zoom calls about it. And there is not possible way your raise is 50 cents. I highly recommend you have a private conversation with your SM, or reach out to your DM. Or if you’re not really comfortable with that, you can have a confidential conversation with PRC and ask if this is correct. Explain how the minimum is 10% andddd how you did not have a private conversation with your SM and that they weirdly whispered in your ear your new rate (gross🤮). Google “Starbucks prc number” and the 1st or 2nd link should have all the numbers.
Js_On_My_Yeet36 points2y ago
Word of advice to all: Double/Triple Check on your pay raises. Some managers (especially if they're young and recently new like my previous one) will lie to you about that stuff and possibly more. If something does not seem right then speak up. Now is not the time for the system to cheat us during a very crucial period. We need the hazard pay.
gomlnicole14 points2y ago
Bc im in CA our minimum is going up to $14. Im only a year and half old partner so im getting the 50 cent raise that sbux is offering to all new partners. So me, a seasoned, depressed partner is going to make the same as any new hires next year. I believe shifts are going up to around $18 in my area
stfuari2 points2y ago
also from CA and i was told our was going up to 16$ some how? i’m from the bay area so our wages are already at 11-12$ as a regular barista so i was super surprised, but it came from a shift and not my manager. for some reason my manager told my shift to not say anything to us, so i have no idea if our manager is even gonna let us know about how much it’s going to be
Simplyroro [OP]2 points2y ago
The raises are across the board for partners and shifts starting at 10% and all the SM are supposed to tell partners their new pay rates this week.
Simplyroro [OP]2 points2y ago
Yeah its still only 11% for us in san diego County no difference between other partners
juiceyluicy7 points2y ago
I think it’s ridiculous that the people I trained make 50 cents more than I do and that my past “raise” was just a bump up to what the new starting pay was. I make below the current starting pay. So this “raise” is going to give me 50 cents above starting, just like all the other baristas even though I’ve been here 6 months longer than anyone else and a year longer than most of the people at my store.
KittenG8r4 points2y ago
This was the case when I worked there- 15 years ago. Shitty that they haven’t changed that 😕
nattie153 points2y ago
Where I live I went from 11.30 to 13.75, but I’m a shift and have been there for about 2 years now.
tiffsrae2 points2y ago
I'm a shift and mine went up 20%
TurtleeSam1 points2y ago
Omg how long have you been a partner?😱
tiffsrae1 points2y ago
2 1/2 years. I'm a 249
TurtleeSam2 points2y ago
How did you get a 20% raise then? That’s crazy!
tiffsrae3 points2y ago
I honestly don't know. That's just the percentage my SM told me. Maybe it's because I'm in Arkansas? Idk
heir_majesty1 points2y ago
I'm a shift, mine went up 10%. I'm am a 2 3/4 yr partner in wa. State.
Stella_20202 points2y ago
I heard it would be a total of 18% for shifts with tenure but my asm isn’t completely sure. I’m in ca.
Simplyroro [OP]1 points2y ago
Where are you in the state ? I'm in SD county
Stella_20202 points2y ago
Riverside county.
Simplyroro [OP]2 points2y ago
Hey neighbor! I was in temecula this morning ! Headed in to my store to do an 8 hour clean play shift😭
justxsomexgirlx1 points2y ago
Ayyy I’m in riverside county too! 18% though?! That’s waaaay more than I was expecting!
Kassupassu1 points2y ago
Our minimum wage is 9.45$. So it makes sense. Obviously that may mean you have more taxes and living expenses are more pricey in your state. In my eye you make a lot more than me, but in reality it's the same with the worth of the dollar. I think SSVs should make 15$ but I have no control over what the company does
epixgamer641 points2y ago
My manager has not said a thing to me regarding it, I just know that it’s happening.
Kassupassu1 points2y ago
I live in Michigan. I have been a partner for 2 and a half years. I started as a barista at 9.50$ I became a shift after 1 year. I am currently 11.94$ and my manager told me my new hourly rate will be 13.14$ She said this was including the January yearly raise we receive.
asdfghjklugh2 points2y ago
I- I’m a barista that’ll be at 6 months in January and I’ll be making more then you. I’m so sorry
Kassupassu2 points2y ago
Ffuuuuuckin WHERE ?!
asdfghjklugh2 points2y ago
Arizona. With the 10% I’ll be making AT LEAST 13.20. I make 12.02 right now w/ minimum wage at $12 but it going up in January so that might change things. Imo shifts deserve $16-20 depending on where you live at the minimum.
Kassupassu2 points2y ago
I hate this company so much omg
asdfghjklugh2 points2y ago
I’m sorry you deserve more as a manager to make more than a 16 yr old. (Yes I’m 16)
LeahMCopsey1 points2y ago
South Jersey, going to be making $13.25
BFoley7271 points2y ago
I’m moving to Eugene Oregon from Sacramento CA at the end of the year. Does anyone know how much shift pay is in Oregon right now? I’m trying to figure out how to advocate for myself when it comes to figuring out transfer details. I heard that Sacramento shift wages are going up to 18 something so how accurate is that and how will that translate in my move?
TurtleeSam3 points2y ago
Hey. Reporting to you from metro Portland area in OR! I just stepped down from a shift to a barista. I was making $16.23 an hour and my 11% raise would’ve put me at $18 an hour
BFoley7271 points2y ago
Is it true that the Portland area has different rates tho?
TurtleeSam1 points2y ago
Actually yes. Because Portland like downtown Portland is on a $15 minimum wage plan it’s most likely different than metro
Kassupassu1 points2y ago
Well frick. I guess I gotta move
greenleafsheep1 points2y ago
When do we get the new pay rates? My SM hasn’t said anything about it recently to anyone as far as I know. We were made aware of it a week or two ago but haven’t heard anything since. I also can’t see my pay rate on the partner hub thing, just the total amount of my paycheck.
Simplyroro [OP]1 points2y ago
The raises go onto effect 12/14 . You can view your entire check stub on the hub and your pay rate is on it.
greenleafsheep1 points2y ago
Do you know where on the hub? On mine, it just has the date of the pay day, the amount, and all other columns are blank. There was a section where I saw pay rate and it just said $0.00 but I know that isn’t true because I’m obviously getting paid 😂😅 maybe I’ll just have to talk to my SM tomorrow.
Simplyroro [OP]1 points2y ago
My partner information has your check stubs in it. You can view or print it and by law it has to include, pay rate, total hours worked and all sorts of other information.
