Customers that pull up to drive through and immediately say “hello?” as if i’m not 2 seconds from greeting them. Something about it puts a rage inside me.
islandmongibello22 points2y ago
This earns an automatic, “I’ll be right with you.”

Their mere existence tbh

"I'll have a grande with almond milk, 2 pumps of caramel, and cinnamon" "A grande what?" "Just a grande with almond milk. and caramel. and cinnamon. >:/"
CreepleCorn3 points2y ago
lol at least they tell you the size
😾
[deleted]23 points2y ago
When they have a multi drink order, I ask what size for the first one, and they continue to not tell me the size for the rest of the drinks.
Or start yelling a hundred mods without telling me the base drink.
Or saying frappé instead of Frappuccino or just “frap”
Or when I ask what size and they go “uhhh idk” or “idk the sizes” or “regular” just say small medium or large it’s fine really idc
Or when they stand in the cafe line to the door for 15 minutes, get to the register, and still haven’t looked at the menu or had an idea of what they want.
stewbydoo319 points2y ago
Add ons to the order at the drive through window.
Stella_2020 [OP]5 points2y ago
Isn’t it the worse when they’ve actually been waiting for a bunch of their order and they finally get their complete order and then they wait to get all their things and then I had a water at the end like you had all this time to ask me you’re gonna wait till now
canidieyet_4 points2y ago
oh no, people at my store wait until you hand them their entire order and THEN ask “oh i forgot but can i get three venti java chip fraps?”
Agartha3316 points2y ago
People who continue ordering when their tone and sentence breaks make it seem like they're done.
People who don't specify hot, iced, or frappuccino.
People who start ordering a super complex drink without specifying the size and the above issue.
Stella_2020 [OP]3 points2y ago
Yes! Yes! And yes!!!
esaeklsg13 points2y ago
Customers who try to get out of paying the correct price for the drink they’re trying to order.
Customers who try to insist a specific person make their drink.
silenceRose207 points2y ago
OMGosh this!!! The 'ill have a cup of water with 4 scoops of matcha powder and 4 pumps pineapple ginger' .....( Sure but it is going to be charged as a 'custom iced tea')
Or 'Venti water with 3 scoops of each of the fruit pieces, extra ice....oh and can you blend that.....(again 'custom iced tea' double blended)
The "two venti mocha cookie cream fraps, but I need them each split into two small cups with extra whip and cookie crumbles"...... .(no ma'am we cannot give you 4 small cookie crumbles for the price of 2 big ones, however I can note your drinks as 'double cupped' and two cups of water 'no water' )
Waiting until the window to decide you actually wanted that hot venti w mocha to be iced and with sweet cream ias the milk plus the sweet cream cold foam and carmel drizzle and keep the whip cream (Cue dagers glared and me ringing up what the actual upcharge charge)
canidieyet_7 points2y ago
we have a customer who only wants a specific person to make her drink, bc apparently only she knew how to make it right. however that barista quit a couple months ago and now she gives us all hell in DT lol
subaruforesters10 points2y ago
When people picking up mobile orders give me their last name instead of the name on the order like it's a fancy restaurant reservation.
Also when people tell me their own name even though they ordered from their mother's/girlfriend's/etc starbucks account, and they somehow expect that I'll know which drinks are theirs (and then 5-15 minutes later "oh yeah it's under Sharon")
Stella_2020 [OP]5 points2y ago
Oh man, how bout when they throw a fit about how they have been waiting 10 minutes for there mobile order without saying a thing only to have us searching for an order and finally we ask for the receipt on the app and sure enough they never put it all the way thru.
Stella_2020 [OP]8 points2y ago
Or when they Come pick up their mobile order and they’re like “oh it’s supposed to be iced” with an attitude and I’m like “no, see you ordered it hot but I can remake it for you Iced if you want just check your app before you send it next time”.
canidieyet_6 points2y ago
“but i DID order it iced. can’t you read? it clearly says iced RIGHT HERE on the sticker 🙄” *points at sticker for extra hot WM*
Stella_2020 [OP]8 points2y ago
When they drive away while your still taking their order or giving them there totals. 🤦🏽♀️
Chronos12256 points2y ago
Customers.
imvni56 points2y ago
When they have time to pull out their payment method while waiting in the DT line but wait until they get to window to fumble around for their phone or wallet
Stella_2020 [OP]6 points2y ago
Ok so I’m Hispanic ... I speak Spanish ! When other usually older hispanics come in and they order in Spanish and say grande as the size and I tell them ok is that grande medium cause that’s what we call our mediums or a large.... n they respond once again with grande... also the same people that when I ask for their names the give me a super long ass name I.e Maria Guadalupe Sanchez like lady I don’t need your social it’s just a drink your getting Maria!!
TheTwerkingRobot5 points2y ago
The one that for some reason gets me more than any other: IT'S NOT PRONOUNCED EXSPRESSO, GAHHHH
leslie_lester4 points2y ago
I hate when customers order from the passenger side and get mad when they have to repeat themselves and then the driver starts yelling at you. Like girl calm down before I smite you. And also when customers pull up to the window without a face mask!!!
official_koda_4 points2y ago
Ordering Frappuccinos or drinks with cold foam lol. Also when they continuously won’t say sizes for any drink and I have to ask “what size” after every drink. And when they don’t specify they wanted it iced and act like they did at the window.
RepStewart4 points2y ago
When they loom over the bar area and stare at you making drinks and then when you call out an order that’s clearly not theirs they grab it and ask if it’s theirs. Like, no Jennifer this a hot latte for Daniel not your freaking pink drink...
Or when they get mad at you because they ordered a grande when they wanted a venti but then act like you’re the one who ordered their drink wrong.
Stella_2020 [OP]2 points2y ago
Omg yes!!! I feel this!! Or when they have to wait 20 minutes to order cause the line is out the door but somehow they are all hot and bothered when they have to wait twenty minutes to get there drinks. Sorry Karen! What did you expect!?
subaruforesters3 points2y ago
When customers think we triage mobile orders, and ask why their drink isn't done yet because "it's just a simple iced coffee." Unfortunately Kelly mobile ordered 10 frappuccino's before you and the stickers print one at a time.
When customers think in general that mobile ordering means their drink will be done faster even though we get 10x as many mobile orders as cafe orders.
paperbackedsea3 points2y ago
when someone who doesn’t known the sizes doesn’t ask for any clarification and assumes tall is the largest size and then gets mad at you when they get a 12 ounce when they could’ve just asked what the sizes were. or when people reach behind the bar to grab a straw/sleeve/stopper. or when someone says they want “the tiktok drink” and doesn’t elaborate/even know what it is. or when some teenager doesn’t have enough for their trenta pink drink so they try to get you to give it to them for just the crumpled up $4 they have. or when someone comes in 5 minutes before close and says “haha i just made it!!!”. can you tell i hate this job?
HULAGIRLthatLIFTS3 points2y ago
When someone asks for a “regular” coffee and you pour it for them, then when you pass it over they say they meant dark roast.
HULAGIRLthatLIFTS3 points2y ago
When the barista is a little behind during rush hour and you (the register) gives someone their coffee and another customer yells over a crowd of people, “Why did they get their drink before me?! I was here first!!!”
First of all, sit your ass down.
King-GoergeIII3 points2y ago
When I ask for their name and they automatically scan their phone even tho I say "can I get your name first" I work at a tourist store so it happened so much if I saw them going to scan before they told me their name I would get the scanner and make it face the counter. And when IM READY I let them scan.
AliasesGarble3 points2y ago
When someone orders a latte with three creams, and then you ask clarifying questions because clearly they don’t understand what they are ordering. So you try to explain to them and they get mad at you for it and drive off without confirming their order, and then get mad that their order wasn’t correct. And you still try to provide them with good customer service by offering to remake it and they just drive off in a huff instead of letting you fix it.
When you ask questions in general of their order (like “hot or iced?” “what size?” “the latte or the regular tea”) and they just keep repeating the order without answering the question.
When you ask what a customer means and they tell you “you guys always do this” or “you guys always get it wrong” and then you give them exactly what they ask for, but you were right in the first place but they get mad at you regardless because they don’t know what they are ordering.
mrsnataliehooper3 points2y ago
People who order a 24 ounce. Maam that's not a size here. When they play a video from their phone to order a drink. When they walk up and hand you their phone with a screenshot of this very complex frappuccino When they order something from a different coffee shop and then get mad when you have no idea what that is When they specifically order a grande and then at the end when they get their complex drink they said they wanted it venti When they order a coffee with 3 cream. 🙃
Fozzybean3 points2y ago
Tell me the size please, hot or iced?
xmlcx12 points2y ago
when you’re really busy on DTO and you tell the person at the drive through “i’ll right with you, just give me a second!” and they continue to order
sbux2772 points2y ago
Glaring at you with their arms crossed in the lobby while you have 20+ drinks to make. I am a human being trying really hard just to be disrespected.
emosweatshirt1 points2y ago
as if customers werent annoying enough already, covid introduced like a million new pet peeves. my worst is when they half-assedly put their mask on WHILE IM ALREADY GREETING THEM AT THE WINDOW. like????? now you are wasting my time and dont have your mask on. i hate u
HULAGIRLthatLIFTS1 points2y ago
Customer who has been coming to same store for years but still tries to get away with getting free add-ons at the barista window.

-This one is super stupid and a little b*tchy on my behalf but when Im solo drive thru and i tell the person at the speaker that i will be right with them and they say “thats alright!” or “oh thats totally fine!” Like.. I didnt ASK if it was okay. I think this more so comes from a place where I am just tired of customers acting like we are their personal oompa loompas and will jump when they say jump. It doesnt at all hinder the way that i talk to that cusomer or make me like them any less. Its just a stupid peeve that I have and just erks me. Like a simple “okay” or “sounds good” is great. But no, it doesnt actually matter and i know that most of the time they are just trying to be nice. Just something I probably overthink. -customers adding water at the window or handoff area. Water is a drink order it when you order everything else. -when i have to play 21 questions with the people at the speaker - “did you have a mobile?” “Yes” “Whats the name?” “Those ones right there” “Oh i just need the name” ~~customer reaches over to grab them and I have to try and block them from touching every mobile on the table~~ (our mobile station is in an awkward place that is reachable to customers) -asking me to remake your hot mobile drink that is now not so hot because you placed it 45 minutes ago -asking for a sleeve and stopper for every drink. If they are old, i totally get it. They generally have more sensitive hands and shake a bit more. But miss becky over here does not need a sleeve and stopper for her white hot chocolate with extra whip -coming thru the drive thru JUST to get Venti waters -ordering more then 3 drinks in the drive thru Thats all i can think of for now. Its 4:25am and i am completely unable to sleep. Yes, i know these are stupid. They dont make me hate my job. They are not a big deal. They are just things that erk.
