There’s this one woman who comes by my tarbucks store every two weeks or so, and orders a “double shot of espresso over ice in a venti cup.” Exactly like that. But when I go to make it- I que the shots, turn around and fill the cup with ice, and when I turn back around this lady barks at me that she wants the espresso first and then the ice on top. Like ok, that’s a strange tick to be so specific about, but fine. It’s not really a big deal, it just throws me off every time. Why can’t she order it how she wants it instead of interrupting me every time?

I don’t know if there’s truth to it but some people believe that dispensing shots over the ice like that shocks the shots and doesn’t allow them to “flower” properly or whatever.
I don’t know if there’s anything to that, I just know I’ve heard it several times before.

There might be some truth to that, as espresso does settle and oxidizes a bit. But if anything the cold would make creamier shots since the nitrogen slows down and more of it is retained.
But anyone that particular about their espresso shots shouldn’t really going to Starbucks IMO.

I think the "point" of this post was that the customer has explicitly asked for their espresso shots "over ice" & then, after, specifically requests that ice go "over the espresso" so idk why the snarky comments about beverage routine & que-ing shots.

I’m actually queuing the shots into the shot glass, and then pouring them over ice- as per customer request
