Can my manager LEGALLY ask why I can't come in to work though I'm sick?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I've been sick twice in the past and I might call out tomorrow cause how I'm currently feeling (Stomach flu-ish) and I want to know if she CAN ask why I can't come in tomorrow? (In other words, when I was sick she asked what was wrong with me? like if it was a stomach virus, if i truly can't come in / make it etc. and I heard from partners that she shouldn't ask that cause basically she trying to see if you really are sick or probably faking it)

How are they suppose to know if you don’t have covid symptoms then? I don’t want someone who might have covid coming into work

When I was sick my SM sent me a link to covid coach, asked me to fill it out and tell him what it said, so that’s probably how.

I 100% agree the manager could do it a better way by asking a list of symptoms and saying if you disagree or not. Even sending the coach. But getting offended when the manager is possibly just trying to make sure you don’t bring covid to work? We don’t want to get covid from work

Not in those exact words.
They can ask you if you’re experiencing any of the primary or secondary symptoms of COVID. They can’t ask you to be specific with what those symptoms are.
They are also legally allowed to require you to provide to a doctor’s note to back up your claim.
