New Barista Not Getting Enough Hours! Help? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by melodiousSunder
I've been with the company now sence the beginning of Oct. I changed my availability to all day everyday. However, regardless of the fact my store knows my terrible financial situation at this point, I have recently only getting scheduled for 10-15hrs a week for 5 weeks in a row now including this week and the next 2 weeks.

I've tried asking my SM for more hours, I hoped changing my availability would help open some doors for me but I'm barely making it by and I pay less than $900 in bills every month.

They've hired 2-3 people on after hiring me for the same time frame as me and they're getting more and longer hours by far, just as much as the people who have years of experience it seems. Is my SM trying to get me to quit?

UPDATE:
After speaking with my SM about my changed availability, they informed me that they have yet to see my changed availability and that my previous availability was INDEED the largest issue!

is it possible they’re trying to rotate people with the hours? I can’t imagine it is personal, especially if you have talked to your manager about your financial situation. I know it might be scary right now to work at other stores, but you might be able to pick up more hours in your area at different stores in your district.

I would if there was more than 1 Starbucks in my town and/or If I had a vehicle.

EDIT:
Also highly doubt the rotating hours thing, there are individuals who consistently get 25-30+ hrs a week here no matter how new or experienced you are.
