Starbucks Baristas...I’m only hopping in here briefly for a quick question. First, thank you all for the excellent service over the years! You guys rock! My question: when making a Mocha Frap, what can make it so bitter as to be undrinkable?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve had this happen several times over the years, and every time I ask my baristas seem to have no idea and just make me another one. It happened again tonight. Just wanted to pass the answer on to those baristas who aren’t sure of the cause. I tip when I can and again appreciate you all for the great service and working through the pandemic. Thank you all!

It's probably too much frap roast which is an instant coffee mix that we add water to. I don't really care for the smell or the taste of it since it can be bitter and potent. It's possible that a barista accidently added too many pumps of it. Frappuccinos get one less pump of syrup compared to hot or iced espresso drinks so it can be an easy mistake to be made for new people on bar. I'd maybe order it with one less pump of it or add an extra pump of mocha to see if that makes a difference.

Could be from some old mocha, it has a 24 hour lifespan so once it goes past that it can become bitter tasting. Either that or too much frap roast in it.

definitely frap roast, it’s the coffee we put in there and it smells like soy sauce

It was so bitter and tasteless I thought I had Covid. Thanks.

Either they forgot the base which makes it kinda chunky and flavorless or the mocha/Frappuccino roast went bad.
