Haven’t been a barista for a few years, but one of my all time favorite regulars (favorite as in when I heard her on the headset I ran to the window for her order and always got her a free pastry) brought her new puppy to the window and I got to hold him and it made my whole month.

Im not a fan of dogs, loathe them actually, personal bad experience and at my age its not changing. That being said I respect others and their love of their pets. But why do other partners not respect that I have no love of dogs.

I was 7 and mauled by not 1 but 3 dogs, a fucking chupacabra wanna be chihuahua, and 2 mutts. 57 stitches and 2 weeks in the hospital has earned me the right to hate dogs.

Don't try and get me to go to the window, don't say just look... just leave me be. They all think that some animal in the window will erase past memories. They all know that I remove myself from situations where a dog is and yet they won't stop. Who is being disrespected here ? Its me. Not an animal or some human with the inability to be empathetic to a fellow human.
